ISSME congratulates India and the European Union on the successful conclusion of the India–EU Free Trade Agreement, a historic milestone announced at the 16th India–EU Summit.

Bringing together the world’s 4th and 2nd largest economies, this agreement opens unprecedented opportunities for MSMEs, exporters, professionals, farmers, artisans, women, and youth, while strengthening trust and cooperation between two major global partners.

With preferential market access for over 99% of Indian exports, strong support for labour-intensive sectors, ambitious commitments in services and mobility, and forward-looking engagement on sustainability and innovation, the FTA reflects a balanced and inclusive vision for future growth.

This agreement goes beyond trade—it is about jobs, skills, innovation, resilience, and shared prosperity, aligned with India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and the EU’s commitment to sustainable and rules-based global trade.

🚀 A Historic Step Towards “Next-Generation GST Reforms”! 🇮🇳

The International Society for Small and Medium Enterprises (ISSME) extends its heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman for the landmark GST reforms announced during the 56th GST Council Meeting (3rd Sept 2025).

We are proud that several of ISSME’s key recommendations from our Comprehensive GST Reform Proposal have been accepted and incorporated, including:

✅ Simplified GST slabs → Two-tier structure: 5% & 18% + 40% de-merit rate
✅ Lower GST on essentials & FMCG → Relief for millions of households
✅ Healthcare boost → 33 lifesaving drugs zero-rated, others down to 5%
✅ Agriculture support → GST on farm machinery cut to 5%
✅ Mobility affordability → Two-wheelers ≤350cc now at 18%

Why This Matters for MSMEs and India’s Growth

💡 Over 110 million MSMEs, contributing 33% to India’s GDP, will benefit from:

🔹 Simplified compliance & reduced operational costs
🔹 Lower input taxes → improved competitiveness
🔹 Boosted domestic demand → faster growth & innovation
🔹 Affordable mobility & equipment → strengthening logistics and exports
