The Kutumb Foundation a twenty-year-old NGO working for the empowerment of disadvantaged young people across Delhi NCR. We are an arts-led education organisation, dedicated to promoting the total development of the individual by way of building language skills, bridging developmental gaps, and addressing issues of identity; this is accomplished through the creation of creative spaces using the ove

rarching lens of drama. Drama conventions anchor our work in the space of free libraries, storytelling, and literacy programming, capacity building workshops, cultural programming, and sports for development football programming.

A group of students from Kutumb's Qissagadh Active Library recently attended the 18th EcoReels Film Festival, organised by Kriti: a development praxis and communication team. One student shared, ""When I watched the films by Kriti Film Club, I enjoyed the experience very much. Every film taught me something new. The film I liked most was Desi Oon. It taught me that we often think wool is useless and throw it away or fail to appreciate its importance. The film taught me that before dismissing something as worthless, we should first understand its value." Another shared, "The experience was even more special because it was my first time attending a film screening. We watched many meaningful and educational films. Through these films we learned a great deal about the Yamuna River, trees, plants, and the environment. Every film taught us something new. They inspired us to love nature and reminded us of our responsibility to care for it."

Kutumb's coaches and peer coaches organised a 3-day Goal of Life Summer Camp in Ali Vihar. Day 1 focused on fun games and team building activities such as Kho Kho, Circle of Friends, Action/Reaction, and Number of Gates. Day 2 focused on football training with footwork drills such as shuttle runs, zig-zag runs, and single-leg jumps. Day 3 included a friendly match against the Noida Goal of Life team.

🌱 Kutumb's Ali Vihar players played a variation of Coaches Across Continents' game Friendly Forests, from the Climate Action toolkit. In this game, balls on top of cones on the end line represent trees and the objective is to protect your trees from the other team and keep them from falling over. Through this game players have conversations about the importance of our forests for the environment.

Kutumb's Delhi and Noida Goal of Life players celebrated World Environment Day with fun purposeful play activities from Coaches Across Continents' Climate Toolkit, planting plants, passing and receiving drills, and a match.

Ritika, one of our players shared "We played a game called Save the Earth. Through this game, we learned how many people are polluting the Earth, and how few people are cleaning it. We also saw an example. In the park 100 people come and just leave their water bottles and food packets behind. Only one person is left to pick it all up. If everyone takes their trash with them, the burden won't fall on just one person. So we took a pledge that we will keep our ground clean, plant as many trees as possible, reduce litter, and spread awareness."

Kutumb's President and Co-Founder, Kapil Pandey, has been featured in The New Indian Express (link in bio). He shares, "Drama helps break hierarchies in a classroom. If education is about empowering children, then the teacher must sometimes step back—and drama creates that space. Sports, especially football, teach you something equally important: how to fall and get back up. It humbles you, helps you understand yourself, and tests your limits. When you combine football with drama, children begin to understand their limits, their strengths, and themselves more deeply. Eventually, it is about learning to know yourself better."
