June 6th, 2026
Students-youth in large numbers turned to Jantar-Mantar on 6 June against the continuing series of paper leaks and exam irregularities, demanding the resignation of union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Disha Students’ Organization along with various other organizations and individuals also joined the protest demonstration in solidarity with the issues of the students and the youth.
This protest came, called by the 'Cockroach Janta Party', after paper leaks on a massive scale over the past years under fascist BJP-RSS regime and a widespread anger and discontentment against the current regime is clear. Last month, the news of NEET paper leak shook the country and a number of students, who had been preparing for months had their dreams crushed. Some even took their own lives. But if this was not enough, CBSE OSM marking scam added salt to the injury of the common-students youth. From university entrance exams to recruitments exams, this government has only destroyed the future of the common students and the youth for the sake of the profit of their capitalist masters and contractors.
For instance, Globarena Technologies which was given contract for the OSM marking by the CBSE under MOE this year, has a very vulnerable track record as similar large-scale discrepancies had been recorded in Telangana inter-mediate public results also back in 2018. But thanks to the governments’ full commitment to these contract companies, this very Globarena Technologies company was awarded with another huge contract instead of having any action taken against it for its previous misconducts. Such is the attitude of this regime for the common students and the youth of our country. And not just them, when workers came out on the streets demanding such basic rights as a livable wage, payment of overtime at double rate as a result of the backbreaking inflation and attack on workers' right, the fascist BJP everywhere by brutally repressing them and illegally incarcerating the workers and anyone who stood in solidarity with them. Three members of Disha Students' Organisation - Yogesh, Himanshu, Akriti - along with five other activists(Sristhi, Manisha, Rupesh, Aditya, Satyam) have been illegally arrested by the UP police precisely for standing in solidarity with the workers of Noida. Indeed, the fascists have even invoked NSA against two of them - Akriti and the senior journalists and translator, Satyam Verma.
The response of the fascists at helm, like the Queen Marie Antoinette in France, to the suffering of the people that their own workings have caused is - "sab changa si", "melody khao, khud jaan jaao". And if anyone dares to resist, their response is brutal repression, false cases and illegal arrests.
This is the context in which the phenomenon of the 'Cockroach Janta Party' must be situated, when all previous records of unemployment are broken during this regime of fascist Modi government as the estimated numbers of unemployed people have risen around 32 crore, when economic crisis has led to the worsening condition of each section of the people of our country, when the inflation is increasing to unprecedented levels.
The CJP, it is true, has raised a very important issue of paper leaks in the country and they deserve the appreciation for their unique attempts to corner the government and ask for their accountability on a very pressing immediate issue. However, their charter of demands suffers from some shortcomings - it does not, for instance, include the demands of the toiling masses of our country who are facing the dual attack of inflation and state repression, it does not yet go to the root of the problem and question the capitalist system itself. Besides, the charter calls for the arrest of the Chief Election Commissioner under UAPA. While the Commissioner must indeed face the most strict punishment, to call for invocation of UAPA against him validates this draconian law, born out of the colonial legal tradition, which serves only to crush democratic voices and to repress.
Members of Disha Students’ Organization addressed small gatherings during the protest today and expressed their solidarity and commitment for the common issues of students-youth through graffiti, songs, slogans and placards. We demanded the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan and appealed to students-youth to stay united for our common demands. Indeed, Disha Students' Organization has always staunchly struggled against the anti-student and youth fascist BJP and it's policies. Even in 2024, after various exam leaks, Disha Students’ Organization took a countrywide months long campaign and raised the demand of the scrapping NTA and had staged a huge demonstration in Delhi to which the Delhi police had responded with brutal repression. And student activists like Yogesh, Himanshu, Srishti and Akriti, who under illegal imprisonment today were at the forefront.
Members of Disha said that it is the staunch unity of the common masses that haunts the fascist BJP-RSS the most. We emphasised upon the need to build a mass movement around our common issues - employment guarantee to all, free and equal education, free and accessible healthcare and transparency in public examinations etc. as one day protest demonstrations are not enough. Heeding the call of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh's call, Disha Students' Organisation will continue to resolutely fight for the students-youth of our country and will continue to stand in resolute solidarity with struggling masses everywhere.
