On this day, we pay homage to Nawab Bahadur Khan Kayamkhani, the Chauhan kshatriya ruler of Jhunjhunu, who brought stability to Jhunjhunu and patronized both Jain and Hindu poets in his court. The contemporary work Naimishwar Ras was written in his court.
Bahmya Raimal, disciple of Muni Anant Kirti, completed Naimishwar Ras in Vikram Samvat 1615 (1558 CE). In his description of Jhunjhunu, he notes that the “master of the city belongs to the Chauhan caste,” which he appears to use as an indication of the internal discord prevailing within the state.
