Designing hospitals is not just about infrastructure—it is about dignity, independence, and empathy.

As our population ages, the need for age-friendly healthcare environments becomes just as critical as accessibility for Divyangjan. From safe pathways and intuitive layouts to calming lighting and assistive technologies—every thoughtful detail can transform a stressful visit into a supportive experience.

An inclusive hospital is one where:
• An elderly patient can walk confidently without fear of falling
• A wheelchair user can navigate without barriers
• A caregiver feels supported, not overwhelmed

True inclusion lies in designing for all abilities and all ages—together, not separately.

Let’s move beyond compliance and build spaces that genuinely care.

At **Purple Fest Delhi 2026 held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, visitors came together to support products made by Entrepreneurs with Disabilities (EwDs) at the stall of Inclusive Divyangjan Entrepreneur Association.

Every purchase was more than just shopping — it was a step towards inclusive entrepreneurship, dignity, and economic empowerment.

When we choose inclusive products, we create opportunities and celebrate the talent of Divyang entrepreneurs.

Meet Aishwarya, a 16-year-old powerhouse of talent who is redefining what it means to be an artist. Living with Down Syndrome has never defined her; instead, her vibrant spirit and incredible art do the talking.

Through her journey with IDEA, Aishwarya has transitioned from seeking support to becoming a contributor to society. In just the last 9 months, she has:

🌟 Earned Rs 2,00,000/- through her professional painting orders.

đź’– Generously donated Rs 30,000/- back to the DHAN Fund to help others.

Aishwarya’s story isn't just about art; it’s about dignity, independence, and the power of a "Giver."

Join us in celebrating this wonderful artist! 🖌️🙌

This International Women’s Day, we at IDEA are proud to launch a special cohort dedicated to aspiring female entrepreneurs with disabilities. We believe that entrepreneurship should be accessible to everyone, and true innovation knows no physical bounds.

We kicked off this journey at the IDEA office with an intimate introductory session featuring 10 incredible women. Their ambition, resilience, and unique perspectives are the foundation of what will surely be a transformative journey.

We aren’t just teaching business; we’re building an ecosystem where every woman has the tools to lead.

Close your eyes. Now try crossing a busy street.

That was the starting point of our 1 km Accessibility Walk conducted under the Sugamya Delhi Abhiyan — jointly organised by IDEA and UDITA Action Area under the aegis of Ethos Foundation.

Architects, students, professionals, and faculty stepped out of their comfort zones — blindfolded or navigating the route in wheelchairs — from the IDEA office to the CCPD office.

Within minutes, the city felt different.

• Uneven pavements became dangerous terrain.
• Missing tactile paths meant complete disorientation.
• A small curb felt like a wall.
• A “standard” ramp felt unusable.

What we casually draw as 150 mm on paper can become a barrier to dignity in real life.

This was not an activity.
It was perspective.
It was discomfort.
It was awareness.

Because accessibility cannot remain a compliance clause. It must become instinct.

When designers feel exclusion, they design for inclusion.

Under Sugamya Delhi Abhiyan, our mission is to cultivate professionals who embed accessibility in thought, plan, and action — not as an afterthought, but as a design foundation.

If you are a designer, planner, policymaker, or educator — ask yourself:

Have you ever experienced the city the way millions are forced to?

Let’s build cities that don’t need adaptation — because they were inclusive to begin with.
