Today, the Centre for Democracy, Pluralism, and Human Rights (CDPHR) held an eye-opening event at the Press Club of India in New Delhi, focusing on the dire human rights situation for minorities in Bangladesh. Titled "Bangladesh Minorities Under Siege: A Wake-Up Call for the International Community," the event revealed the harsh reality of what can only be described as unchecked ethnic cleansing of Hindus in the country.

Key points from the report:

Immediate Aftermath: Within just four days of the ouster of Sheikh Hasina on August 5, 2024, there were 190 cases of looting, 32 homes burned, 16 temples desecrated, and two rapes reported against Hindus.

Escalation of Violence: By August 20, the number of violent incidents against Hindus escalated to 2,010, with 69 temples desecrated and 157 families attacked.

Genocidal Atmosphere: The speakers highlighted the global silence on these atrocities, describing it as a "civilizational tragedy." Genocidal slogans have become normalized, with horrifying incidents like the assault on a Hindu woman by 35 masked radicals and the lynching of a Hindu journalist.

The CDPHR's report paints a grim picture of institutionalized persecution and calls for urgent international intervention to safeguard the lives and rights of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. The silence from the global community is not just a failure of empathy but complicity in the face of genocide.
