The foundation aims to ameliorate the sufferings of vulnerable sections of society especially children and women . As a conscientious citizen, Reshma Arif is committed to safeguarding the rights and interests of all citizens in general and children and women in particular. The two issues of “Education for all “ and “Equal treatment of women “ are closest to her heart. She has been inspire
d by her father Late Mohammed Ishaq Ilmi, (Journalist ,former editor of Urdu daily
newspaper Siasat Jadid (Kanpur ) who being a staunch supporter of girls ‘‘education always encouraged them to become agents of change in society. The Foundation agrees with John Dewey‘s belief that :
“Education is not the preparation for life, Education is life itself ,“ and aims to empower through education , the next generation , i.e. “our children”, both girls and boys to reach their maximum potential and transform into responsible citizens of the country. Unfortunately in recent times the pandemic Covid-19 has played havoc with the lives of people across the world. School closures have resulted in significant learning loss, and widened the learning gap between rich and poor and boys and girls as they have been forced to their homes robbing them of their cumulative growth. With Covid-19 radically changing the paradigm of education in the world, on-line education has gained importance. Online studies have tried to mitigate the damage but they are tilted in favour of the elite and male students. The Foundation aims to come up with integral and practical solutions of this predicament. The foundation endeavours to eradicate child- violence and child-labour and give full support to children’s learning. Being a strong advocate of women’s rights the Foundation endorses what Swami Vivekananda said about women:
“There is no chance for the welfare of the world unless the condition of women is improved.”
It is a sad truth that despite constitutional guarantees, a large number of women suffer from violence and several forms of deprivations . Together we have to join forces and make a difference to the lives of victims of domestic violence, elderly women, widows and other underprivileged women and girls. It cannot be denied that women are the fulcrum of society. The Foundation and it’s dedicated team believes that women empowerment is about improving the quality of life for all, not just women. Hence the foundation is committed to women’s personal, social, economic, legal and political empowerment.
