As a former Physics Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, with 40+ years of pioneering fiber optics & quantum photonics. A huge thank you to Prof. K Thyagarajan for delivering a masterful talk on Integrated Quantum Photonics (IQP) at IIT Delhi SPIE Student Chapter today!

Special highlight: Prof. Thyagarajan brought copies of his newly published book Integrated Quantum Photonics (Graduate Texts in Physics) – Springer, Oct 2025! Textbook provides comprehensive coverage of the fundamentals of IQP and its key applications.

120+ attendees!! Huge thanks to all students, researchers & faculty who attended today for the excellent turnout, thoughtful questions, and vibrant discussions!

Invited Talk by Prof. Krishna Thyagarajan (Former Professor of Physics, IIT Delhi)
Topic: "Integrated Quantum Photonics"
Photons are revolutionizing quantum technologies; computing, key distribution, teleportation and beyond. Integrated quantum photonics brings these capabilities to compact chips through spontaneous parametric down-conversion in waveguides, generating entangled photon pairs, squeezed states, and low-noise amplifiers.
Prof. Thyagarajan, with 40+ years in fiber optics & quantum photonics, shares insights on generating polarization/spatial-mode entangled states, hybrid/hyperentangled states, and higher-dimensional entanglement.

Your clarity and openness in discussing ongoing work and future directions were truly motivating for our student and research community.

Speaker: Prof. Rich Mildren, MQ Photonics Research Centre, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia.

In this talk, we’ll explore how high-quality diamond growth is enabling new applications in lasers and quantum technologies, including narrow-linewidth diamond lasers and laser-based monolayer surface manipulation.
