FICCI Vision on Skills Development: FICCI would act as a ‘skills development aggregator’ to complement Government of India’s ambition of training 500 million people by 2022. As India moves rapidly towards achieving ambitious economic and social targets, engaging the human resources for skills development will be critical for ensuring success as a knowledge economy. reaching out to 500 million by
2022 coupled with multiple challenges in implementation. The country today requires a robust strategic framework which neatly ties the existing initiatives and brings the stakeholders together. India has seen in the past few years, a surge in the number of initiatives- both government and industry, to tackle this massive skills challenge. It is important here to combine the efforts, connect the dots and map the implementation frameworks to the strategic plans, especially when the entire country debates on planning and executing the 12th Five Year plan where skills development has been positioned as an obvious and urgent agenda cutting across all sectors. In light of this, it is absolutely essential for all stakeholders to sit together, discuss and debate the ambitions, challenges and solutions. The 4th Global Skills Summit is being organized by FICCI in collaboration with Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India on 15-16th September 2011 at Federation House, Tansen Marg, New Delhi. The FICCI Global Skills Summit propels this discussion to newer heights this year. The theme of this year’s summit is “Vocational Education & Training: Developing Strategic and Implementation Framework” that will focus on the initiatives taken and planned by the key stakeholders of the country. With concrete sessions around the engagements of each of the stakeholders, the Global Skills Summit 2011 will bring out a fantastic culmination of ideas, concepts, initiatives and actions which the key stakeholders should undertake over the next few years. The Summit will be graced by eminent speakers including senior ministers, senior government officials and captains of industry & training institutions not only from India but from across the world.
