IOM India

IOM India The official page of the UN Migration Mission in India. Officially, India became a member of IOM in 2008.

IOM has been active in India since 2001, when the organization provided support for migrant workers following the 2001 Gujarat earthquake. Since then, the organization has provided assistance in areas like labour migration governance, counter-trafficking, pre-departure orientation trainings, assisted voluntary return and reintegration services, refugee resettlement, shelter and livelihood recovery

. IOM India serves as the Secretariat of the UN Migration Network in India and functions as an inter-agency body, providing support to the Government of India in protecting the rights and well-being of migrants and their communities in their places of origin, transit and destination. In all its collaborations with governments and civil society organizations, IOM India attempts to embody the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2018 Global Compact for Safe and Orderly Migration (GCM).
