⚠️ Trigger warning: This post mentions r**e, sexual assault and violence against women.

We keep telling women where not to go, when not to travel, and how to stay “safe.” But if parks, streets, buses, campuses, hospitals and even homes can be unsafe, where are women supposed to go?

Safety cannot mean restricting women’s freedom and mobility. It means changing the conditions that make spaces unsafe.

This post was inspired by an idea shared by natasha 🦦, which made us reflect on this differently.

We’re looking for spaces in Delhi where young people can meet, connect, organise and lead. If you have a space or know someone who does. We love to hear from you. It could be a café, library, rooftop, basement, living room or any space that can be opened up for young people.

Have a space? DM us. Know someone who does? Tag them or share this post. Even if you’re unsure whether it could work, send it our way. Let’s create more spaces where youth leadership can grow. 🌱

EVENT ALERT: What does it mean to be young in India today?

For millions of young people, life is increasingly shaped by competition, uncertainty and the constant pressure to secure a future that feels more fragile than ever. Competitive exams, the coaching industry, paper leaks, rising education costs, unemployment, inflation and shrinking democratic spaces are not isolated issues; they are deeply connected and shape how young people imagine their futures.

At , we began as a student collective at Delhi University. While our work has focused on climate justice, we have always believed that the climate crisis cannot be separated from the broader realities shaping young people’s live including education, work and the struggle for dignity.

Join us for a screening of An Engineered Dream, followed by an open conversation on the structural challenges within India’s education system. Together, we’ll reflect on what a more humane, equitable and democratic vision of education could look like. If you’ve ever questioned the culture of relentless competition, or wondered what kind of future our education system is preparing us for, we’d love to have you in the room.

A small monthly contribution may seem modest on its own but together it creates stability, protects our independence and helps this work continue without being shaped by scarcity or dependency.

If YFCI has ever given you a space, a conversation, a campaign, a sense of belonging or a reason to stay engaged, this is one way to give back to the structure that made it possible.

Contribute. Sustain. Own this work together. Comment “Contribute” or send us a DM to start supporting YFCI.
