Wish you a very Happy New Year and warm Greetings from Global Helping Hands Foundation!

As we welcome the new year 2025. It fills me with immense joy to share a summary of the impactful initiatives that have brought hope, warmth, and education to the rural communities we serve in the year 2024.
Please find below our activities summarized for this whole year 2024, I am looking forward for your support as you have always given.

Celebrations of Joy
This year, we have shared in the celebrations of numerous festivals, including Dussehra, Diwali, and Christmas, spreading happiness and goodwill to children, parents, and villagers alike. During these festivities, we were able to distribute clothes, gifts, and essential items, bringing smiles to many faces and fostering a sense of togetherness and community.

Hope Scholarship Scheme
One of the most significant milestones of 2024 was the launch of our Hope Scholarship Scheme. Through this initiative, we enrolled five children, particularly girls who were at risk of dropping out of school due to financial constraints. Among them, we also welcomed one orphaned girl child into our program. While we continue to receive numerous requests for educational support, especially for orphaned children, we regret that our current resources are limited. However, we remain hopeful that in the future, we will be able to expand our reach and provide education to even more children in need.

Care for Elders Program
Our Care for Elders initiative has also made significant strides this year. We extended our reach to remote villages where elderly individuals, often abandoned by their children, face the harsh realities of isolation and survival. Many are forced to work on road construction sites to make ends meet. Through this program, we have provided regular supplies of food, ration kits, and personal care items to support them in their daily lives, ensuring that they are not forgotten and that their dignity is upheld.

Providing Shelter to the homeless Senior citizen
Construction of Homes for elderly people: This year we successfully were able to build shelter for Homeless elderly people (Hum singh Manger age 72 years) who lives all alone and works as labour in the nearby tea garden to support his living. He was living in a bamboo shed with with no protection from Himalayas cold winter ,Global Helping Hands provided this shelter under our Program Care for Elders”

Medical Health Camp : we are pleased to share that we have started organizing health camps in the remote villages this year. the much needed health checkups to the villagers where reaching the doctors and bearing their high fees is out of the reach of the poor villagers. The govt hospitals are only in the big town, which is out of the reach of the poor and also the senior citizens. In these health checkups free consultancy and free medicines are provided to the poor villagers

Looking Ahead
As we step into 2025, we remain committed to expanding our efforts and bringing more positive change to the lives of those in need. We hope that with your continued support, we can accomplish even greater things in the year ahead.
Thank you for being a part of our journey. Together, we are making a real difference.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy New Year filled with peace, happiness, and success.

Join us in making a real difference in the life of Humsing Mangar, a resilient 72-year-old resident of Dill Dhura village in Darjeeling, West Bengal. Humsing Mangar's story is one of unwavering determination and dignity despite facing immense challenges.

Having lost his wife and with no children, Humsing Mangar lives alone in a bamboo hut with a plastic rooftop that struggles to withstand the heavy monsoon rains and harsh snowfall of Darjeeling. His living conditions are far from adequate, yet he refuses to beg for food, opting instead to seek work and earn his meals through sheer hard work, doing labour job inspite of being so aged.

Under our initiative for Senior citizens "Care for Elders," we have been providing Humsing Mangar with monthly rations and essential items like blankets. However, we believe he deserves moreβ€”a proper shelter that can protect him from the elements and provide the warmth and security he needs.

We are reaching out to you, our compassionate community, to help us raise funds for building a safe and comfortable home for Humsing Mangar. Every donation, no matter how small, will bring us closer to our goal of giving Humsing Mangar the dignified living conditions he deserves.

🌼 Supporting Iswari Thapa and Others in Times of Need! 🌏

Meet Iswari Thapa, a resilient 64-year-old widow facing hardships in the aftermath of the closure of Chungthung Tea Estate. Iswari lives with her daughter, who used to work as a laborer in the tea garden.

🌿 Challenges on the Horizon:
Iswari receives a widow pension of 1000 INR per month, but unfortunately, it's not sufficient for their basic needs. The recent closure of the tea estate on 28.09.2023 has left hundreds of people unemployed, including Iswari's daughter. The lack of job opportunities and support agencies has created a challenging situation for families in the village.

πŸ’” A Village in Crisis:
The villagers, who were once employed at the tea estate, now find themselves struggling with unemployment. Iswari's daughter, once the breadwinner, is left with no options to sustain their family.

🀝 "Care for Elders" Program:
In these tough times, our program "Care for Elders" is extending a helping hand to Iswari and others like her. We provide monthly ration support to ensure they have access to essential food items.

🌟 Empowering Elizabeth and Her Village in Darjeeling! 🌈

Meet Elizabeth S***a, a resilient 20-year-old from Chungthung Estate Village, Darjeeling. Despite facing numerous challenges, Elizabeth has shown incredible strength and determination.

🀲 A Story of Love and Support:
Elizabeth lost her parents and was adopted by a compassionate elderly lady. However, due to financial constraints, Elizabeth couldn't receive proper nutrition and vaccinations, leading to a disability that prevents her from walking. She had to leave school, facing obstacles that no one should endure.

πŸ‘΅ A Grandmother's Love:
Her sole caregiver, an elderly grandmother, receives a meager old-age pension of 1000 Rs per month from the government. This minimal support is what sustains both Elizabeth and her grandmother, creating a humble life for them.

πŸ’” A Wider Struggle:
Chungthung Estate Village is home to many orphaned and abandoned children facing health issues, with bone diseases being particularly prevalent. These children lack proper care, medication, and support.

🀝 Calling for Compassion and Aid:

Her Name is Selimaya Sundas. She is 61 years old living in Shantidhar village, Chungthung district, Darjeeling. In her family she has only one grandson. She is a widow. Her husband died several years ago. Her son and daughter in law too died couple of years ago in a very unfortunate accident, leaving her all alone with grandson to take care. Her grandson is 8 years old and studies in class-II in a govt school. He cannot walk properly due to malnutrition, causing a bone disease, because of which he cannot walk properly he limps while walking, doctor says if treatment not done early he might not walk very soon. But the Grandmother with a monthly old age pension of 1000Rs per month which she gets from the Govt. of West Bengal is not enough to take care of child medical expenses or even to maintain a good healthy diet for the child.
We have identified such needy ones and reached out to them to give them ration every month. The ration comprises of giving basics like cooking oil, vegetables, Dal, Spices/Salt/Haldi , milk etc to support them. They are very grateful and give you blessings to provide them with the food supplement.

Joining HELPING HANDS to foster Happiness, Love, Trust & Hope

Global helping hands Foundation is a group of young professionals and dedicated, from diverse backgrounds, who came together in August of 2017 to support the mission of educating and empowering underprivileged kids and women, mostly living in slums of Delhi and rural villages of North East parts of India. With the vision of creating a socially aware group of volunteers, including young professionals and people driven towards social issues. Mrs. Jaya Thami set-up this foundation in a small rented classroom in Delhi, along with her team of enthusiastic volunteers and supporters of the foundation with the mission to empower street children and enhancing women empowerment by organizing Free classes, skill workshops, awareness drives, donation drives in various nearby slums of Delhi. They led many volunteering works, especially in teaching the under-privileged children from slums. Each member contributes to the cause by donations either in cash or kind, spreading the word across through social platforms and holding workshops for welfare of the underprivileged frequently on weekends.

Our different programs have been successfully employed to provide education to underprivileged kids through the process of facilitating learning, skills, values, beliefs and habits. Among them are included methods such as, storytelling, discussions, teaching, training and receiving feedback. With a firm intent to counsel kids and especially their parents to let them join schools on regular basis and indulge women of the families in recreational activities to enable them to be self-dependent in supporting their families, which consequently instill confidence in them.

Since the beginning, along with child enhancement activities within Delhi major focus was to reach our distant rural villages of India. Our Foundation has grown to become an organization with presence in multiple states.

Our mission is to give education to under-privileged women and children for which we have opened our centers, where we provide them with educational support, food, clothing for children, along with vocational different skills training for the women. We urge you all to join in hands to help create a world which would include liberated children and women, and ultimately construct poverty and illiteracy free world.
