To mark the Royal Academyโ€™s exhibition โ€œ๐˜ˆ ๐˜š๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜บ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜š๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ ๐˜ˆ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ข๐˜ฏ ๐˜ˆ๐˜ณ๐˜ต: ๐˜”๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ช ๐˜”๐˜ถ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ซ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜Š๐˜ช๐˜ณ๐˜ค๐˜ญ๐˜ฆโ€, the presents a special symposium bringing together renowned artists, scholars, curators, and critics in conversation around the living legacies of South Asian modernism.

Focusing on artists who emerged from the Santiniketan and Baroda schools, the symposium will reflect on practices that bridged materiality, identity, culture, connection and geopolitical contexts across the twentieth century, and continue to shape contemporary understandings of modernism in South Asia.

Artist and gallerist Peter Nagy shares his experience of working with Mrinalini Mukherjee at Nature Morte, Delhi where they produced three shows exhibiting her ceramic and bronze works in 2001, 2004, and 2013 respectively. Mrinalini later asked Peter to curate her seminal retrospective at the National Gallery of Modern Art in 2015.
