💧🌾 When women lead, communities transform.
Alongside children, the UL4BC programme has been working with vulnerable communities across rural Bundelkhand in Madhya Pradesh, where one group shines especially bright — the Jal Sahelis ✨
Meaning “water friends,” the Jal Sahelis are a collective of rural women changemakers, nurtured under the leadership of Sanjay Singh, founder of our partner Parmarth Samaj Sevi Sansthan. From hand pump repairs to restoring ponds and check dams, these women have helped over 100 villages become water self-sufficient, reviving 216 water bodies and inspiring thousands to act. 🌊💪
Under UL4BC, they’re not just parents of our Champions — they’re also leaders of Community WASH Clubs, driving awareness, raising issues in Gram Panchayats, and collaborating with officials to improve local WASH systems. 🎭✨
They also played a key role in Folkart4WASH, Puppetry4WASH, and Walls of Water activities — using creativity and culture to promote safe WASH practices. 💧✨
Under the programme, implemented with Welthungerhilfe (WHH), and Parmarth, the Jal Sahelis led impactful River Walks, organized community awareness campaigns, and brought critical conversations on hygiene and water management to life through art and dialogue. They participated confidently in discussions, debates, and performances during our Water for All, All for Water Festivals in Delhi (2023) and Bhopal (2025), becoming powerful voices for change and community leadership. 🌊💪💙
