Morning classes from 7:45 am onwards. Visited hutments and got another three boys to start classes from today. Hopefully they will continue to come going forward.

Preeti ji is doing amazing work. She has rich experience of managing young kids starting to hold a pencil for the first time.

She reminded me that you start the kid off with making her/ him draw straight lines - vertical and horizontal like you do for making an “L or an I” !! Took me back to when we started off with our own kids.

Got to learn a lot from her so back to school for me too.

Nukkad Shiksha class from 7:30 am onwards taken over by Ms Preeti Kapur and carried on till 10 am.

She has extensive experience in education (teacher at Delhi University) and has been involved in teaching underprivileged street kids for past many years.

She got into action right away on getting to Nukkad Shiksha class.

Yesterday class was taken by Mukul and his wife Yamini. Yamini is also joining us.

We are getting encouraged with all the volunteers joining in this initiative and donations coming from people.

Yesterday we got an INR 5000 donation from a passerby who saw the class in progress. It was really a touching gesture.

Another day of ”Nukkad Shiksha” at signal ahead of Global Foyer.

Vima Philip has joined us as a volunteer and her dedication was just amazing to watch. She sat on the duree with kids surrounding her from all sides. She was extremely patient and engrossed with the kids for good two hours.

Our community of volunteers is increasing. Hope to add more volunteers to the group to ensure we sustain and build on this in coming days, weeks and months.

It’s been an extremely satisfying week with 7 classes done so far with half of them being over 2 hours each. Good bonding building with the children.

Classes today from 7:45 am onwards,going past 9 am with Promila didi (I left at 9 am). Good attendance from students.

We started with an exercise of segregating students by current level of learning irrespective of age. Will address students basis this assessment post dividing into different classes.

Large mats also arranged for the kids to use for sitting. Hopefully should get long benches and tables here soon.

Students are making good progress and engaging in self learning also using the charts put up for numbers, alphabet, tables, varnmala etc.

3rd day and fourth session of classes today and we have already started seeing improvement and learning in the children....

3rd day and fourth session of classes today and we have already started seeing improvement and learning in the children. They are extremely eager to learn, hungry for literacy and collect in 5 minutes,spread the tarpaulin and sit down to study. We were joined today by Promila Bagga and Dipali Tak. Abhishek and Vandana were also there so five of us interacting and teaching the children. Thank you Promila didi and Dipali for joining in, together we will do something meaningful for these children.

Early morning - Nukkad Shiksha - Two more volunteers added to the initiative of teaching these roadside settlement kids. Vandana Anand and Abhiskek Kumar. Thanks for joining in, it only encourages us all to take this head on. Kids are super excited about learning and we could break-up kids by different levels of learning and give good attention to all. Some older girls in 14-17 age group are learning tables and more as some of them have been assisted/taught by other volunteers. A good fun 90 minutes with the kids. “Make a difference”

If every person who has just been helped pays this help forward to three others, then within twenty-one rounds, everyone n earth would have been helped.

Most of what happens in the world is beyond our control and we feel helplessness in the face of large scale challenges believing that our contribution would be a mere drop in the ocean.

However, our capacity to bring about change is greater than we imagine. If we can find ways to contribute that galvanise other people to take action - even if it is a few people - we can make a significant difference.

Social networks expand exponentially and what each of us does creates ripples across time and space. Make a positive difference in the world. Pay forward a bit of your good fortune that God has been kind enough to give to you and encourage others to do the same.

We are keen to create a library and a good tuition centre for kids from underprivileged families. Atleast start with one such centre. We need some regular commitments - maybe as much as INR 1000 a month also to ensure steady flow of funds to manage this centre.

Our commitment to making this happen is strong and we will “Make a difference” no matter how small it is and will want to create our own ripple effect.
