Our Founder, Radhika Bharat Ram, had the opportunity to attend Beyond the Summit: Women and the Future of Philanthropy at Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society, featuring Melinda French Gates in a conversation on The Future of Philanthropy: Partnership, Trust, and Responsibility.

A few powerful learnings stayed with her:
Go close. Listen deeply. Give now. Trust collective wisdom. Don’t try to measure everything. Work on hard problems, but don’t lose your joy.

Philanthropy is also about creating possibilities — the possibility to learn, to choose, to participate and to lead. It is not about deciding someone’s future for them, but about expanding what their future can be.

And meaningful change cannot happen in isolation. It requires trust, collaboration and collective action, bringing together communities, government, philanthropy and others to solve the hard problems that matter.

A beautiful reminder that the future of philanthropy is not simply about how much we give, but what we change, who gets a seat at the table, and how lasting that change can be.

Women’s safety matters. But safety should never come at the cost of women’s freedom.

We should not have to make women’s worlds smaller to make them safer. Their choices, movements, clothes, relationships and ambitions should not come with a penalty simply for being women.

The answer to violence against women cannot be restriction.

The goal is not a world where women are more restricted.
It is a world where women are more free, and where that freedom is respected.

Because real safety is not about teaching women to live with more rules.

It is about building a culture where women can live without fear.

At KARM Conclave, Vinita Johorey, KARM Director, will lead a conversation on Nurturing Curiosity: exploring how curiosity shapes the way we think, question, learn, and see the world around us.

Because sometimes, the most important thing is not having the answer, but being willing to ask a better question.

We’re still talking about these three days. ❤️

From 11th to 13th September, we had the KARM Orientation, where we welcomed the 6th batch of Graduate Fellows and 3rd batch of Law Fellows.

Three days of stepping out of comfort zones, getting to know one another, sharing stories, playing sports, reflecting, laughing, and asking a lot of questions about the journey ahead.

Web of Stories reminded us that every person walks in carrying a whole world of experiences. The activities brought out the competitive side, the reflections gave us moments to pause, and meeting their mentors gave the Fellows a first glimpse of the people who will be part of their journey over the next three years.

But perhaps the nicest part was watching a room full of unfamiliar faces slowly become more comfortable with each other.

There is still so much ahead: classrooms, internships, mentors, new friendships, difficult days, big opportunities, and countless moments of growth.

Welcome to KARM, Fellows. We can’t wait to see you grow, learn, find your voice, and make the journey from girls with dreams to women with vision. ❤️
