SPICMACAY stands for Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture
Amongst Youth. SPICMACAY is a non-political, voluntary movement founded in 1977 by Dr
Kiran Seth, Professor-Emeritus at IIT-Delhi was awarded the ‘Padma Shri’ for his
contribution to the arts in 2009. SPICMACAY’s intention is to enrich the quality of formal
education by increasing awareness about different aspects of Indian Heritage and inspiring the young mind to imbibe the values embedded in it. SPICMACAY Lady Irwin College Chapter has been an active member of SPICMACAY for many years.

🏺The final day brought the cutest surprise yet — little ones from our Rajkumari Amrit Kaur Childcare Study Centre joined in, turning the workshop into a room full of giggles and tiny clay creations. More of our teaching and non-teaching staff also came together to be part of this hands-on finale. A perfect, heartwarming end to three days of creativity.

🏺Round two of clay, creativity and a whole lot of fun! Day 5 saw our faculty step away from their desks to get hands-on, joined once again by enthusiastic students from other colleges. The workshop table just kept getting bigger — and better.

🏺The first day of our 3-day terracotta workshop kicked off with hands (and a little clay) getting messy in the best way possible! Students from other colleges joined in, and even our own accounts department rolled up their sleeves to try their hand at pottery. Turns out creativity doesn’t care what department you’re from.

For Day 3 - Saturday. No classes, no pressure, just vibes. 19th April 2026 saw us swap weekend sleep for the corridors of actual presidential history. Historian Aradhana Sinha ma’am led the way, and somehow made 100-year-old architecture hit different.

And the best part? We weren’t the only ones geeking out — students from universities and colleges across the city joined the walk, turning it into one big history-loving squad. Moral of the story: heritage walks > sleeping in. 🚶‍♀️📜

We screened Asghar Farhadi’s “A Separation” — widely regarded as one of the finest works in Iranian cinema, revered for its honest, layered take on truth, morality, and family. A rich watch for the room, followed by a well-deserved ice cream break in between.🍦
