Society for Action in Community Health Society for Action in Community Health (SACH) has come a long way since it was founded in 1988 by a group of medical professionals.

Initially focused on policy advocacy to improve the access of the urban poor to public health services in India, SACH over the years has grown to become one of the pioneering organizations to deliver community based healthcare services to rural poor at their door steps through well equipped mobile healthcare vans, educating the rural and urban poor on non communicable diseases and in particular se

lf management of diabetes, training of nutritionists and other paraprofessionals on clinical and non clinical management of diabetes through lifestyle modifications, etc. During the course of time, recognizing the need to address the multifaceted dimensions of poverty and deprivation, we strived to expand beyond the health issues related to urban poor and engaged towards sustainable interventions in rural development, disaster response and risk reduction, safe environment, food and nutrition, sanitation and drinking water in the country. Significant addition to the core activities of SACH has been participation in the "Clean Ganga" campaign and environmental protection & awareness, promotion of sustainable agriculture, livestock development and helping rural poor come out of extreme poverty conditions. With focus on holistic development of community in the recent years and rising expectations of stakeholders following successful interventions in various states, internationally acclaimed professionals joined the Board of SACH and are providing guidance and leadership to teams at various locations.

Health on Wheels Reaches Umsning to Strengthen Rural Healthcare!

A proud moment for community healthcare as Glenmark Foundation in partnership with Society for Action in Community Health (SACH) launches the Health on Wheels Mobile Medical Unit in Umsning, Ri Bhoi district.

Flagged off by Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh, Hon’ble MLA, Umsning in the presence of Shri Sampath Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, this initiative will deliver essential primary healthcare services directly to the doorsteps of rural communities.

The Mobile Medical Unit will serve 20 villages, supporting pregnant women, children, elderly citizens, and vulnerable families by overcoming distance and transport barriers - bringing timely and quality healthcare closer to those who need it most.

Together, we move one step closer to equitable, inclusive, and accessible healthcare for all in Meghalaya.
