Umar Khalid is an Indian activist and former student leader known for his speeches during the anti-CAA protests. In one of his most widely shared speeches, he argued that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) raised concerns among many Indian Muslims about equal citizenship and constitutional rights, while supporters of the laws maintained they were not intended to affect existing Indian citizens.
