The Indian National Association of Legal Professionals (INALP) was invited by The Bar Council of England and Wales for a discussion on advancing cooperation between the Indian and UK legal ecosystems.

The Bar Council of England and Wales expressed strong interest in deepening engagement with the Indian legal community, recognizing India’s rapidly evolving legal services market and global footprint. This initiative aligns with the broader policy direction following the British Prime Minister’s current visit to India and the recently concluded India–UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which paves path for legal services as a priority area for bilateral cooperation.

Both sides agreed to explore mechanisms for mutual capacity building, knowledge exchange, and regulatory dialogue to facilitate smoother cross-border legal collaboration in the coming months.

INALP’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Manuj Bhardwaj, had an engaging meeting with Mr. S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India at the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Dr. Bhardwaj apprised Mr. Krishnan of INALP’s efforts in strengthening India’s digital legal landscape, including the recently organized Stakeholders' Roundtable on the Draft DPDP Rules. He also highlighted INALP’s upcoming "Committee on Data Privacy & Protection, AI, and Cyber Law", which can serve as a valuable resource for the government in shaping robust and inclusive digital policies.

We are thrilled to share highlights from a significant meeting between the INALP delegation and the Honorable Chairperson of the National Commission for Women - India, Smt. Vijaya Rahatkar. This meeting was an important step towards fostering collaboration and advancing shared goals in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Led by Dr. Kavita , the INALP delegation comprised of Suditi Tandon , Krati Gautam , Nisha Chauhan and Swarpreet Kaptan introduced our flagship initiative, Women in Law Initiative (WiLi) https://lnkd.in/ghanRaVz led by Pooja Tiwari which is dedicated to empowering women professionals in the legal field by providing them with mentorship, resources, and a platform to excel. The Honorable Chairperson appreciated INALP’s efforts and extended her encouragement for our work, particularly acknowledging the impact of WiLi in advancing women’s participation in the legal industry.

During the meeting, potential partnerships between INALP and the National Commission for Women were explored, aiming to synergize our efforts in supporting women in law and policy. INALP also offered its full support to the National Commission for Women to further its initiatives that align with our shared vision of creating equitable opportunities for women across sectors.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Smt. Vijaya Rahatkar Ji for her graciousness, invaluable guidance, and insightful perspectives, which have provided us with a clearer direction for our initiatives. Her commitment to championing gender equality and empowering women resonates deeply with INALP's mission, and we look forward to continued collaboration under her esteemed leadership.

The Roundtable Discussion on the Draft Digital Personal Data Protection ( ) Rules, 2025, organized by the Indian National Association of Legal Professionals (INALP) भारतीय राष्ट्रीय विधिक वृत्तिक संस्था in association with the Embassy of Israel In India with Economic Laws Practice (ELP) as Law Firm Partner and DPO Club as Knowledge Partner, concluded successfully at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi with robust meaningful inputs.

This landmark and one of the first in-person consultations on the rules brought together representatives from over 70 leading companies, law firms, and consultancy organizations, making it a significant platform for deliberation on India's and policies.

The Roundtable featured enriching discussions on data privacy, compliance, and the evolving digital economy, with special addresses from industry leaders and experts. The deliberations aimed to provide valuable feedback and actionable insights to the government to further refine the DPDP Rules, 2025. We are compiling a feedback document that will be presented to Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology after a thorough review by our contributors and partners.
