Advancing scientific understanding and conservation strategies for marine cetaceans through collaborative capacity building. 🌊🐬
This initiative brings together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to exchange knowledge, strengthen technical expertise, and promote evidence-based approaches for the protection of dolphins and other cetaceans. By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and enhancing institutional capacity, the workshop aims to support sustainable marine ecosystem management and long-term biodiversity conservation. 🌍✨🌊🐬

Highlights of World Seagrass day 2026(Day1, Day2),
As part of our theme “Dugong Habitat Monitoring & Restoration”, we were honoured to host two insightful expert talks:
🎙 Dr. Milica Stankovic (Thailand)
📌 "Thailand’s Lost Carbon: The Status of Disappearing Seagrass Meadows"
🎙 Professor Muta Harah Zakaria (Malaysia)
📌 "Seagrass Assisted Recovery and Monitoring for Rehabilitation: A Case Study of the Merambong Seagrass Meadow, Sungai Pulai Estuary"
Both sessions highlighted the urgent need to monitor, restore, and protect seagrass meadows — the ocean’s quiet climate allies and critical dugong habitats. 🌱🌊
From disappearing blue carbon ecosystems to assisted recovery strategies, these talks brought powerful regional insights from South East Asia.

Happy World Dugong Day! 🐾🌊

To mark the occasion, the CAMPA Dugong Project of the Wildlife Institute of India conducted a vibrant awareness program at the bustling Ariyaman Beach in Ramanathapuram, in collaboration with GOMBRT, Arumbugal Trust, and the Tamil Nadu Forest Department. 🌿🤝

The event was graced by the ACF of Ramanathapuram Wildlife Division as the Chief Guest 🎖️, along with several Forest Range Officers. Drawing a big crowd, the beach came alive with a powerful art-based campaign led by Arumbugal Trust. 🎭🎶 Through music, skits, and street plays, they delivered engaging messages on dugong conservation 🐋, the importance of seagrass 🌱, and the need for protection and rescue efforts 🚨.

This creative outreach effort captured public attention and set a new benchmark in using art for species conservation awareness—making it relatable, impactful, and widely accessible. 🎨👏🌍
