High Density Apple Orchards have given new hopes to the Uttarakhand Farmers. Due to change in climate, traditional apple varieties are no longer fruiting at lower reaches.

High Density Apple pilot project is supported by Uttarakhand Forest Department under the Uttarakhand Forest Resource Management Project (UFRMP-JICA), in Pujar Gaon and Khuret villages, located in the Saklana Forest Range of Narendranagar Forest Division, Distirct -Tehri Garhwal.

These orchards have been established through a cluster-based farming model and are being successfully led and managed by local women's Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and are showing promising results. Last three years, Himmotthan has established more than 250 High Density Apple orchards, planting over 25,000 seedlings in selective clusters of Uttarakhand with funding support from Tata Trusts, Titan, HDFC Parivartan, Axis Bank Foundation and TCS e-serve International.
