Our latest article in The Wire explores how plastic waste is increasingly becoming a part of Himalayan ecosystems and affecting wildlife in ways that often go unnoticed.
From animals feeding at garbage dumps to plastic entering fragile mountain habitats, the article looks at how unmanaged waste and rising tourism are reshaping ecological relationships in the region.
The piece also reflects on an important gap in conservation conversations. Waste is often seen as an urban sanitation issue, but rarely discussed as a wildlife and environmental concern despite its growing impact on biodiversity and natural ecosystems.
This is part of our larger collaboration with Nature inFocus to encourage more storytelling and documentation around environmental challenges in mountain regions.
If you are a photographer, storyteller, researcher, or someone working closely with mountain ecosystems, we invite you to be a part of this growing conversation. Registrations for the initiative are now open.
