Aagaaz is Zaruri Hai’s foundation and it was laid when we began funding the education of children coming from underprivileged families. To avoid seeking help of donations, a new system of generating income was needed. This was achieved by assisting the children’s families in marketing their home-made products. The products included edibles, handknits and embroideries. This enabled the families to

become self-sufficient, while giving them an opportunity to showcase their skills. As more families joined from across India, the efforts required further expansion. It was decided that instead of teaching individuals anything new, the focus would be towards encouraging them to pursue the artforms/agriculture native to their particular region. This led to the inclusion of handloom, handicraft and agricultural products. In order to formalize this newfound vision into a sustainable system, Zaruri Hai was born. Soon, products made by individuals in the remotest corners of the country were being delivered not only throughout the country, but abroad. Today, Zaruri Hai aims to bring people on the path to self-dependence, while demonstrating and preserving India’s traditional strengths
