APG India Shri Y.B. This collective effort culminated in the formation of Association of Petroleum Geologists, India (APG India) in the year 2000.

The idea of creating a common platform for all petroleum geologists of the country was mooted in 1998 during an informal discussion with the Vice Chairman, AAPG International liaison committee. Sinha, the then Director (Exploration), ONGC, other eminent geologists and a number of younger colleagues took up the daunting task of bringing all petroleum geologists of the country under a common platfor

APG India is a non-profit organization of persons concerned with professional applications of the geological sciences and is registered under Section 21 of the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Registration no. 63 dated 19th May 2000). It is affiliated to the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), USA. APG India is a forum which brings together Petroleum Geologists on one platform to discuss, deliberate and plan ways and means to supports worth-while educational and scientific programs or projects related to the geosciences. It focuses on advancement of the science of Petroleum Geology and promotion of technology for exploration and production in economically and environmentally sound manner. The association has its headquarters at Dehradun, India and has a number of Regional Chapters at various locations all over the country. Besides these, the association also boasts of a number of Student Chapters in prestigious educational institutes of the country imparting higher education in geoscientific disciplines. Today, APG India, through its flagship mega geosciences conference and exhibition 'GeoIndia', and its myriad geoscientific activities, has become the primary congregation of Indian Petroleum geoscientists to voice their opinions, channelize segregated ideas into consolidated strategies and to harness new ideas and advancements in the global scenario and thus usher in positive changes in the Indian petroleum industry with global impact.

The GEOIndia 2024 Steering Committee Meeting held on 21.10.2024 at Oberoi Hotel, New Delhi was presided over by Mrs. Sushma Rawat, Director Exploration, ONGC and Patron, APG India. The meeting was attended by prominent members of the APG India community.During the discussion, Dr. Ranjit Rath, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), Mr. Saloma Yomdo, Director (Exploration & Development) and Mr. Trailukya Borgohain, Director (Operations) of Oil India Limited (OIL) offered insightful recommendations. We are also appreciative of the insightful advice and contributions provided by our former Patrons of APG, Dr. N K Verma and Mr. R K Srivastava.Mr Vikas J Pandey, President, APG & Chief E&D Dte (ONGC Ltd), and Mr J P Dobriyal Secretary APG & Head GEOPIC (ONGC Ltd) led the program, which was attended by most of the stakeholders of the event.

APG India organised ECO DRIVE cm Geological Field Workshop along Dehradun -Joshimath-Mana-Dehradun road section in progress from 18 - 20 October 2024 with interactive sessions with environmentalists and district officials at Rudraprayag and Mana village in presence of Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, Hon'ble MP, and attended by Smt Sushma Rawat, Director (E) & Patron APG, Shri Vikas J Pandey, President, APG and Shri J P Dobriyal, Secretary, APG. The interactive sessions were a huge success and highlighted the ongoing work and contributions of APG for the development of Petroleum Geological sciences with environmental concerns. Attending dignitaries appreciated the efforts of APG India and lauded it's concern for sustainable development activities in the remote villages for education and upliftment of local communities.

1. Fourteen students from seven universities participated in the GEOIndia 2024 online quiz organized by the Vadodara chapter on Friday, October 4, 2024.

2. The participating institutions were The MSU-Baroda, Parul University Baroda, PDEU- Gandhinagar, MG Science Institute - Ahmedabad, KSKV Kachchh University-Bhuj, MLSU-Udaipur, and the University of Rajasthan-Jaipur.
