Today, February 2nd, on World Wetlands Day, we at Bhomya Foundation feel immense gratitude and responsibility as we celebrate the value of wetlands and the life they sustain.
For many years, the Chakrata Forest Division under the Uttarakhand Forest Department has been consistently organizing school awareness programs, nurturing young minds to understand and respect nature. Dedicated frontline staff like Forest Guard Pradeep Saxena continue to inspire us with their long-standing commitment to bird conservation and field protection.
This year’s session was enthusiastically conducted by birdwatcher Arun Sarkar, who engaged children with curiosity, stories, and hands-on learning, helping them discover the fascinating world of birds and wetlands. Watching young students connect with nature was truly heartwarming.
We sincerely thank ACF Ms. Vibhu and DFO Mr. Vaibhav for their constant support and leadership, which strengthens every conservation effort in the division.
On this special day, we also highlight the majestic yet endangered Pallas’s Fish Eagle (Haliaeetus leucoryphus) — a true Guardian of the Water. With only a few thousand individuals left in the wild, its survival depends entirely on healthy wetlands and the protection of old nesting trees. Protecting wetlands means protecting their future.
