Karnataka Hemophilia Society,Davangere Karnataka Hemophilia Society, was formed to cater the needs of PwH in this region, specially to promote the awareness and support in timely management.

Karnataka Hemophilia Society, Davangere (KHS) is a Non-Profit Organization working for the welfare of Persons with Hemophilia (PwH) and related Bleeding Disorders since 1989-90 by Dr.Suresh Hanagavadi who himself is a sufferer with Hemophilia. His maternal uncle’s death to life-threatening bleed for want of treatment made him to establish KHS & work towards needy poor patients with Hemophilia. It

is registered under Society’s Act, 1860 and Affiliated to Hemophilia Federation India, New Delhi, which is a satellite body of World Federation of Hemophilia, Canada. Karnataka Hemophilia Society has identified 740 Patients with Hemophilia till now who are registered as Life Members & caters Diagnosis, Treatment and Rehabilitation services to the patients referred from different parts of the state, mainly from the Districts of Central and North Karnataka. KHS is successful in Advocating with State Government, Philanthropists, Institutions and Celebrities to build “Karnataka Hemophilia Care & Hematology Research Centre” equipping Administrative Block, Diagnostic Laboratory, Blood Bank, Physiotherapy Unit, Out Patient / In patients Ward, Female Ward, Infusion / Transfusion Unit, Counseling / Rehabilitation Unit with Hydrotherapy unit, Meeting Hall, Library & Training Hall.

🌟 Congratulations to our SSLC (10th) achievers with Hemophilia — Varun V (88%), Amodh GS (77%) & Yadhunandan Adin (66%). Hemophilia may affect clotting protein in blood, but never their courage, determination, and dreams.
❤️ On this Mother’s Day, we specially salutes the mothers of children with Hemophilia, who silently suffer psychologically, stand strong during every bleed, and dedicate their lives with endless love, sacrifice, and care. Behind every successful child is a brave mother. 🙏

Dr.Suresh Hanagavadi has been actively advocating for stronger social support systems for individuals living with Hemophilia, Thalassemia & Sickle Cell disorders. Through a series of engagements with Ministers and senior bureaucrats, he has consistently emphasized the need for inclusive job reservation and equitable employment opportunities.
During the recent consultation organized by the Ministry of Labour and Employment - Govt of Karnataka which invited inputs from public and corporate stakeholders on enhancing employment for persons with disabilities, Dr. Hanagavadi submitted key recommendations. These focused on ensuring meaningful inclusion of persons with Hemophilia, Thalassemia & Sickle Cell in the workforce, addressing both accessibility and long-term sustainability.
Referring to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, he highlighted the persistent gap between policy provisions and their actual implementation, particularly in areas of employment access and social security benefits.
In this regard, Dr Hanagavadi met the Honourable Minister of Labour Department, Sri Santosh Lad and submitted a formal appeal. It is encouraging to note that the Minister has considered the recommendations favourably.
