-The First Darjeeling Open Badminton Championship 2025 concluded successfully at the Gymkhana Hall, Darjeeling, from 30th October to 2nd November 2025. The event was organised by Young Shuttlers Darjeeling (Y.S.D) with the proud support of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA).
The tournament was inaugurated by Mr. Anjul Chowhan, Chairman, GTA, and Mr. Richard Lepcha, Sub-Divisional Officer, Darjeeling, and was formally concluded by Mr. Anit Thapa, Chief Executive, GTA.

The grand finale was presided over by Mr. Anit Thapa, Chief Executive, GTA, whose inspiring leadership and continued support for youth and sports have helped make this landmark event possible.
With participation from 510 players across India and Nepal, this historic tournament marked a new era in Darjeeling’s sporting journey. The event featured top-ranked athletes including Mr. Prince Dahal, former BWF U-19 World No. 1 (2022) and Nepal’s first Olympian badminton player (Paris 2024), and Mr. Anjan and Mr. Ranjan Buragohain, former Indian Men’s Doubles No. 1 (2018–19).
From electrifying rallies to heartwarming displays of sportsmanship, the championship reflected the growing passion for badminton in the hills. It not only strengthened community ties but also laid the foundation for nurturing future champions from Darjeeling.
