A Proud Moment contributing the bridge of our schools in the army quiz- national level!

It was an honour for our Governing Members to be part of the “Battle of Minds” Army Quiz Contest, alongside the Teach India team and representatives from Times of India CSR.

It was a worth opportunity to come together, learn, connect and celebrate the spirit of knowledge and community.

Grateful for the opportunity and for the inspiring work being done to engage and empower school children of our tribal community !

We are deeply honored to be recognised by “Tribal Today” for our contribution to our Himalayan community, especially our Tibetan–Bhoti Literacy Course.

A moment to cherish and this recognition is more than an honor—it is an encouragement to keep working for our Tibetan Bhoti language, culture and community.

Once pristine and untouched, the remote valleys of tribal Himalayan are now facing a growing waste crisis. Plastic bottles, glass, paper and other waste which are not seen in the valleys, are now increasingly seen across our villages, while limited or no waste-management systems often leave communities with no choice but to burn or discard waste in rivers.

The impact goes beyond pollution. The experienced changing climate patterns and environmental degradation are already affecting our agriculture and the community’s single major cash crop, putting local livelihoods at greater risk with majority shifting towards tourism sector at large, leaving behind the ancestral farming.

Our glaciers, rivers and mountains are not just part of our landscape—they are the foundation of our lives.

Its high time to initiate with a community-led waste-management system that creates awareness, practical solutions and local responsibility to protect our fragile Himalayas and the livelihoods that depend on them.

Help us keep our mountains clean, our rivers alive and our Trans-Himalayan home protected for future generations.

In the remote foothills of the Tribal Himalayas, where opportunities and resources can be limited by distance, a small but meaningful step towards empowering our community was taken four years ago.

“Manjushree Library” is more than a library for us. It is envisioned as a community learning centre—a welcoming space where a 4-year-child can discover the joy of a story, a young person can learn and dream, and someone as old as 80 can come, read, share, and connect.

This is our first such community centre in the remote village of Lahaul, created with the belief that access to knowledge, learning and ideas should not be limited by geography.

We hope Manjushree will grow into a space for children, youth, women, elders and the entire community—a place where knowledge meets tradition, generations meet one another, and new possibilities with hope begin.

A small beginning in a remote Himalayan community with a step towards a stronger and more empowered future.

Glimpse of the “Darcha Valley” that lies at the foothills of the high mountains- “The Himalayas”, surrounded by green landscapes in summer and covered under heavy snow during winter. As tourism continues to grow, the valley is changing, bringing new visitors, more migrant workers, and new opportunities. Yet, the residents continues to live in harmony with these changes, sharing the valley and its resources with everyone who comes here. It is a community that is slowly changing while holding on to its traditions, values, and close connection with the land.

Losar is here — the New Year of our Himalayan tribal community!

Falling in the month of January or February each year (dated by the lunar calendar), Losar is one of our most cherished and observed traditions. Fire-lighting rituals, symbolic effigies, and homes decorated with meaningful signs — every custom tells a story of who we are.

Grateful to carry forward these roots ....
