The All Upper Subansiri District Students’ Union (AUSDSU) would like to inform the people of Upper Subansiri District that the Union has been actively and rigorously working on various public welfare issues concerning healthcare, education, environmental protection, and public infrastructure in the district.
1. Representation for Retention of Specialist Doctors
The AUSDSU recently submitted an urgent representation to the Hon’ble Minister and Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, regarding the proposed transfer and posting show-cause notice issued against Dr. Appi Nalo, the lone Forensic Specialist, and Dr. Tara Nayam, the only Pediatric Specialist serving Upper Subansiri District.
The Union strongly objected to the proposed transfer, highlighting the acute shortage of doctors and specialists in the district and the serious healthcare crisis faced by the people. The representation stated that many peripheral health centres, including CHC Taliha, PHC Kodak, PHC Siyum, PHC Nacho, PHC Taksing, PHC Chetam, and PHC Baririjo, are already functioning without doctors.
The AUSDSU emphasized that transferring the only available specialists from the district would severely affect healthcare services and create irreparable hardship for the people of Upper Subansiri. Accordingly, the Union submitted a forwarding representation through the Deputy Commissioner, Daporijo, to the Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, seeking immediate retention of both doctors in public interest.
2. Issues Concerning Daporijo Government Degree College
The AUSDSU, along with the Town Magistrate, conducted monitoring and inspection regarding illegal encroachment and infrastructural deficiencies at Daporijo Government Degree College.
Following the inspection, the Union submitted a memorandum to the Hon’ble Minister and Secretary, Education Department, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, highlighting major concerns including:
• Alleged illegal encroachment upon college land and campus areas.
• Lack of proper hostel accommodation for students.
• Shortage of faculty members and subject teachers.
• Inadequate academic and infrastructural facilities within the institution.
The Union appealed for immediate intervention to protect institutional land and ensure proper educational infrastructure and facilities for the students of Upper Subansiri District.
3. Concern Regarding Waste Dumping Near 3 KM Subansiri Bridge
The AUSDSU also raised serious concern regarding the dumping of waste near 3 KM Subansiri Bridge by the Urban Development (UD) Department.
The Union questioned the concerned authorities regarding the absence of a permanent and scientifically feasible solid waste management site for the district. Following the representation submitted by AUSDSU, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Upper Subansiri District, constituted an official committee for inspection, identification, and selection of a suitable site for solid waste management.
As per the official order dated 26th May 2026, the committee comprises:
• Shri Goken Koyu, CO – Chairman
• Executive Engineer (UD), Daporijo – Member
• President/General Secretary, AUSDSU – Member
The committee has been tasked with verifying and selecting a suitable scientific waste management site for the district.
The AUSDSU remains firmly committed towards safeguarding public interest, improving healthcare services, protecting educational institutions, ensuring environmental safety, and addressing issues affecting the welfare and development of the people of Upper Subansiri District.
