Actually this temple has no excat year of existance, As per the folk lores it is presumed this temple is ancient and it was located on the banks of Daman Ganga River. as per the folk tales, this temple had a big snake with the deity of Lord Shiva, there use to be one saint as Pujari, a lady came to him and asked to pray for her to get a child, the saint showed her the way of Puja, a child was born
, as per advised by the saint lady had to attain penance in front of the snake on Shravan Sudi Panchami (Naag Panchami), she appeared but could not complete it due to fear of snake, and her child died as the saint had said, but she attended penance of Lord Shiva and her child came to life back since then the deity of this temple Lord Shiva was called as BHIDBHANJAN. The replica of that snake is till today maintained with a silver snake
Now , comes the story of renovation, this temple was renovated in the year Vikram Samvat 1957 (1901). The then President of Marathi Mahajan, Daman Shri Krusnarao Tatyaji Mohile who was a Manager (Munim) of the Owner/Landlord of whole Daman Mr Bulim. in those days a severe drought struck the region due to which people strived for proper food, the Landlord Mr Bulim ordered the help to people of Daman, so Krusnarao requested why not a temple be renovated aginst the help given to people? and that time it was a very small temple which was located with a godown and factory of roof tiles which was owned by Mr Bulim and was managed by Krusnaraoji himself, and Mr Bulim permited to do so and it was renovated in the Maratha Architecture Pattern and was started in Vikram Samvat 1955 and completed in the year Vikram Samvat 1957 (1901) and the day of reinstalling the Deities in temple after renovation was fixed on Shravan Sudi Panchami (asumed as per the folk tales).
