CPDRS Demands Strict Action Against Talchua Marine Police for Beating a Mother and Son
The Centre for Protection of Democratic Rights and Secularism (CPDRS), Odisha, strongly condemns the brutal action by the police at the Talchua Marine Police Station. According to recent news reports, police officers used severe physical torture inside the police station, leaving a mother and her son badly beaten, bleeding, and seriously injured.
It is shocking and shameful that the police, who are supposed to protect citizens, have acted like criminals inside their own station. Beating a woman and her son so badly that they are left covered in blood is a complete violation of law, human rights, and basic human decency. No law allows the police to use physical violence or torture against anyone under any circumstances. This incident shows that police stations are becoming dangerous places where common people are not safe. CPDRS stands firmly with the victims and demands immediate justice for them.
To address this terrible incident, we demand that the government of Odisha and the higher police authorities take immediate and strict action against everyone involved. The police officers who took part in this brutal attack must be suspended from their jobs right away. A formal criminal case must be registered against them, and they should be arrested for their actions.
Furthermore, we demand a fast and independent high-level investigation to bring out the complete truth. While the investigation takes place, the government must take full responsibility for the victims. The injured mother and son must receive the best medical treatment at no cost, and the state must give them fair financial compensation for the severe physical and mental pain they have suffered.
Finally, the government must take strong steps to ensure that the police stop using illegal violence and torture inside police stations across the state. If the administration fails to take quick action and punish the guilty police personnel, CPDRS will be forced to launch a democratic protest to fight for justice.
