Every Life Matters. ❤️🐾

For more than 14 years, Blacky has been a familiar face in Ward 44, Cuttack. Loved and cared for by the local community, she has quietly become a part of the neighbourhood's family.

A few weeks ago, Blacky developed a large tumour on her left hind leg. The pain became unbearable. She stopped her usual walks, lost her appetite and gradually withdrew from the life she had always enjoyed.

The moment we learned about her condition, we immediately reached out to our trusted friends at SFA "Speak For Animals" , an organization that has stood beside us on numerous occasions whenever animals have needed urgent care.

Without hesitation, they rescued Blacky, provided comprehensive veterinary care, successfully removed the tumour through surgery, treated a painful ear infection and ensured she received the antibiotics, medications and dedicated post-operative care she needed to recover.

Today, our hearts are full as we see Blacky back where she belongs-healthy, active, wagging her tail and reunited with the people who have cared for and loved her for over 14 years. Watching her once again greet familiar faces and settle comfortably into the place she calls home is the happiest ending we could have hoped for.

Blacky's journey reminds us that no life is insignificant. Community animals are part of our communities and they deserve compassion, medical care and the chance to live free from pain.

Because every life matters.

On 1st July 2015, as we were preparing to return to Odisha, we embarked on a journey with a simple thought - to give back to society in whatever way we could. Today, as we complete 11 years of that journey, our hearts are filled with gratitude and humility for having been blessed with the opportunity to serve.

Kiran: The Ray Of Hope completed 11 years of service just recently with ample support of Late Dr. Bhubanananda Moharana, Er. PK Mishra (Ex VC, SCTE & VT and Current Secretary), Dr. Kiran Bala Bhandari (Current President), Dr. Ruby Moharana (Active member and Mentor) & Saswat Mishra (Ex-President)

Over the years, we have worked tirelessly to promote eye health through awareness camps, myopia prevention initiatives, walkathons, community outreach programmes, clinical and research collaborations, and numerous public health initiatives. Distributed medicines, eye drops, spectacles, walking sticks, prosthetics etc. We have also been privileged to serve the blind, physically and mentally challenged and the underprivileged through welfare camps, while extending food, medicines and essential supplies to those affected during times of catastrophe.

The recognition we receive today belongs to every volunteer, supporter, and well-wisher who has stood beside us - indebted to Apex Eye Care and pharma companies like ENTOD Pharma & Ajanta Pharma. We are especially grateful to our dedicated doctors and our Presidents, whose leadership and commitment have strengthened our mission.

We offer our heartfelt tribute to Dr. BN Moharana, an exceptional mentor, and passionate advocate for social service. His guidance, encouragement and unwavering belief in our vision have shaped our journey and continue to inspire us every day.

As we reflect on these 11 years, we remain eternally grateful for the privilege of serving humanity. Every life touched has enriched us far more than we could ever give in return. With renewed purpose and compassion, we look forward to continuing this journey of service for many years to come.

We had the privilege of conducting an eye screening camp on 15th March for the workers at the construction Site of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital Research Centre (Unit of Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai) at NISER Campus, Jatni.

Over 70 workers were screened and tested for various eye conditions and eye drops and medicines were provided to them with the generous support from ENTOD Pharmaceuticals.

As a preventive safety measure, all workers were also given eye protective gear, and prescription spectacles were distributed to over 50 individuals. We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Ruby Moharana for conducting the camp and to Dr. Kiran Bala Bhandari for her constant encouragement and support.

Sincere thanks to Apex Eye Care and all the staff who helped us in this initiative successful.

At Kiran: The Ray of Hope, we believe that no matter how busy life gets, there is always time to give back to society. The joy we create and the lives we touch remind us why this journey matters.

We recently conducted another eye camp - this time at Sri Aurobindo Purnanga Vidyapitha, Dalijoda, an area that does not have easy access to medical services, which makes such camps truly impactful. Screening and consultations were provided to more than 50 students, and we are deeply grateful to Dr. Ruby Moharana, whose dedication and compassion make a lasting impact wherever she goes. The students were provided free eye drops, medicines, and spectacles, ensuring that no child is deprived of healthy vision due to financial or geographic barriers.

Carrying out camps in interior regions always gives us a profound sense of accomplishment. It reaffirms our belief that service is not about convenience - it is about commitment.

This camp was conducted in the presence of:

Dr. Kiran Bala Bhandari, President, Kiran: The Ray of Hope
Saswat Mishra, Ex-President
Dr. Shanti Lata Nayak , Hon. Joint Secretary
and in the august presence of Dr. Shyama Kanungo

As the year draws to a close, this was perhaps our last camp for the season-but certainly not the last in spirit. We are already planning many more initiatives in the coming days, guided by our mission to bring light, care, and dignity to underserved communities.

A heartfelt thank you to Apex Eye Care & ENTOD Pharmaceuticals for their unwavering support in making these programs possible.

Together, we continue to spread light - one camp, one smile and one hopeful vision at a time.

It is with profound sorrow that we share the demise of Dr. Nirad Kumar Gachhayat, who has left us for his heavenly abode. He served as the Vice President of Kiran: The Ray Of Hope and, since our inception a decade ago, played an instrumental role in our journey. His dedication and vision were a source of inspiration for many of the social initiatives undertaken by our society. May his noble soul attain Sadgati. Om Shanti 🙏
