The initiative will further improve access to doorstep healthcare services, ensuring that no elderly person is left without care.

EFEF expresses sincere thanks to the School of Physiotherapy, Arupadai Veedu Medical College (Vinayaka Mission), Puducherry for joining hands with us in this meaningful effort to support the dignity and well-being of the elderly.

Healthcare at the Doorstep for the Elderly – A Successful Community-Based Model in Cuddalore

For over a decade, the Elders for Elders Foundation has been implementing a successful community-based healthcare model in Cuddalore district, ensuring accessible and affordable medical care for elderly citizens.

These health sub-centres are community-owned and managed by Village Elderly Federations, demonstrating the strength, leadership, and collective responsibility of senior citizens themselves. This model empowers the elderly not merely as beneficiaries, but as active stakeholders in managing their own healthcare systems.

Each centre is supervised by a dedicated nurse, with a qualified doctor visiting once a week to provide consultations and essential medical services. The centres are also equipped with physiotherapy facilities, addressing mobility issues, pain management, and rehabilitation needs of the elderly.

A committed team of local volunteers further strengthens the initiative, ensuring compassionate, timely, and holistic care for every elder in need.

This sustainable and replicable model stands as a testament to the power of community participation in delivering dignified, doorstep healthcare for the elderly.
