Transforming Young Lives: ACSEN & Idhayangal Foundation Launch Advanced Diabetes Care Centre in Namakkal
Type 1 diabetes affects over 3 lakh children in India, many of whom lack access to specialised care. To help bridge this gap, ACSEN Foundation and Idhayangal Trust have established a Centre of Excellence for Type 1 Diabetes at the Government Medical College Hospital, Namakkal.
For the first time in a tier-3 city like Namakkal, comprehensive diabetes care is becoming truly accessible. This centre provides advanced diagnostics, counselling, retinal screening, pain-free insulin delivery, HbA1c and thyroid testing, glucose monitoring support, and a 24×7 helpline. This transformative initiative is set up by Idhayangal Trust and sponsored by ACSEN Foundation with support from National Health Mission.
The centre was inaugurated by Mrs. Durgamoorthi, IAS, District Collector, along with Mr. Senthilnathan Sengottuvelu, CMD – ACSEN Agriscience, Mrs. Chitra Senthilnathan, Trustee – ACSEN Foundation, Dr. Krishnan Swaminathan from Idhayangal Trust, and Dr. K. Santha Arulmozhi, Dean – GH Namakkal.
During the ceremony, beneficiaries Minmozhi and Soundarya shared how this Centre of Excellence provides advanced diabetes care, including free access to insulin pumps and consumables which is a huge relief for young warriors like them. With dedicated counselling and guidance from Dr. Swaminathan and his team, they are rebuilding their lives with renewed confidence. This centre will now extend the same hope to many more courageous children and families.
With this Centre, we move one step closer to our core belief “Happy Planet, Healthy People” and Dr. Swaminathan’s dream of zero mortality from Type 1 diabetes in Tamil Nadu.
