When creativity meets civic responsibility, even a Kolam can inspire a cleaner city.🌿♻️

Creativity, culture and civic awareness came together at Semmozhi Poonga, Coimbatore, through a unique Waste Segregation Kolam Competition.

Participants were given waste segregation as the theme and encouraged to express the importance of responsible waste management through their own creativity and Kolam designs. 🎨♻️

The event was graced by the Hon’ble Mayor of Coimbatore and the Corporation Commissioner, who visited and encouraged the participants.

In collaboration with the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, Olirum Kovai was glad to be part of this meaningful initiative that transformed an important civic message into a beautiful form of art.

Congratulations to all the participants and prize winners for turning awareness into creativity and creativity into change. 🌱

Their work keeps our city clean.
Let’s understand their challenges, respect their work, and do our part.

Every day, our sanitary workers work tirelessly to keep our city and its surroundings clean. But behind every clean street is a struggle that often goes unnoticed.

Roadside dumping, spitting, littering, and handing over mixed waste instead of properly segregated waste make their work even more difficult. Even after repeated awareness, the same challenges continue.

Paying a garbage collection fee means the waste is collected — but our responsibility doesn’t end there. Wet waste, dry waste, plastics, sanitary waste, e-waste and hazardous waste need to be properly separated before handing them over.

When we segregate at source, we make the work easier for our sanitary workers and help the collected waste reach the right processing system. Organic waste can be processed into manure that can eventually support agriculture.

A cleaner city doesn’t begin with the people who clean it. It begins with the people who live in it.

The ozone layer protects life every day. Let’s do our part to protect it. 💚🌎

World Ozone Day | September 16 🌍💙

The ozone layer acts as Earth’s natural shield, absorbing most of the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation and helping protect people, plants, ecosystems and marine life.

Protecting our atmosphere starts with responsible choices — choosing environmentally friendly alternatives, avoiding harmful chemicals, reducing waste and spreading awareness.

A healthier ozone layer means a healthier planet and a safer future. 🌱

Let’s protect the ozone.
Let’s protect life. Let’s protect our future. 💚
