Children’s Consultation | Bengaluru | 6–8 August 2026

What happens when children are given a safe space to speak, share, and shape the decisions that affect their lives? Their voices become powerful recommendations for change.

From 6–8 August 2026, 20 girls from the GOOD Project participated in a three-day Children’s Consultation in Bengaluru, sharing their experiences and perspectives on safety, education, rights, violence prevention, child marriage, online safety and more.

Through storytelling, group discussions, games, interactive activities and poster-making, the children collectively developed 15 key recommendations for the Second Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children, to be held in Manila, Philippines, in November 2026.

Their recommendations call for:
🔹 Safe, dignified and violence-free childhoods
🔹 Child-friendly complaint and protection mechanisms
🔹 Ending child marriage and ensuring girls continue their education
🔹 Safe, inclusive and quality education
🔹 Stronger protection from online risks and exploitation
🔹 Access to mental health support and counselling
🔹 Meaningful participation of children in policies and programmes
🔹 Stronger implementation of child protection laws
🔹 Protection of children from child labour, exploitation and harmful practices
🔹 Equal opportunities for children with disabilities

The children’s recommendations were consolidated into a letter and handed over to Dr. Thangaperumal, Asia Regional Representative, Terre des Hommes Netherlands, to be presented on behalf of the children at the global conference.

When children speak, meaningful change begins with listening.

Little books can open up big worlds.

Children of India Foundation organised a Telugu Storybook Distribution Programme across 50 primary schools in Anantapur, reaching children in both rural and urban communities.

With the support of Pratham Books, the initiative aims to encourage reading habits, strengthen Telugu language skills, and spark creativity and imagination among young learners.

The programme was graced by Sri Venkataswamy, Mandal Education Officer (MEO), as the Guest of the Programme. Sri Thimmareddy, Headmaster, along with the teachers, actively participated and appreciated the initiative to make quality, age-appropriate storybooks accessible to children.

Healthy children. Healthy habits. Brighter futures.

Taking care of children’s health starts with early screening, preventive care, and awareness.

A Dental Health Camp at Thagachaguppe and K. Gollahalli Primary Schools reached 400 children, with 9 dentists providing dental screening, treatment, and oral health guidance, with support from Rajarajeshwari Hospital.

We also conducted hemoglobin, height, and weight screening for 130 children at Thagachaguppe School to help identify children at risk of anaemia and understand their growth and nutritional status.

Because every child deserves the opportunity to grow healthy, learn confidently, and thrive.

Taking awareness to the heart of the community!

Through street theatre and community conversations, we are turning important messages into meaningful action.

With the support of the Kovai Komaligal team, street theatrical performances were conducted across 12 new field areas, reaching 352 community members with messages on health, nutrition, education, child rights, child marriage, child labour, child abuse, global warming, seasonal diseases, healthy food, and responsible mobile and online usage.

We also conducted 11 area-level community meetings, engaging 206 women in discussions on online safety, health and nutrition, child rights, prevention of child abuse, child marriage, healthy food, and access to social welfare schemes.

Because when communities are informed, conversations begin.
And when conversations begin, change becomes possible.

Empowering men. Supporting children. Building stronger futures.

In August 2026, the GOOD Project brought together 368 male caregivers from Devadasi families for a sensitisation programme focused on education, gender equality, and creating supportive family environments.

The discussions explored the importance of girls’ education, preventing school dropouts, equal opportunities for girls and boys, and challenging harmful gender norms and social practices.

With participation from representatives of the Education Department, Panchayat, and Social Welfare Department, the programme encouraged men to take an active role in supporting their children’s education, wellbeing, and dreams.

Together, we can challenge harmful practices, strengthen families, and create communities where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a better future.

Change begins at home. Change grows through communities.

Connecting with communities. Creating safer futures.

Our PLLs are reaching out to Anganwadi Centres, schools, and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) through the IMAGE Project to raise awareness, engage communities, and identify eligible beneficiaries.

Together, we are taking meaningful steps towards community safeguarding and legal protection for EMGs and young women.

Health, Nutrition & Well-being

Creating awareness, supporting healthier choices and building stronger communities!

✨ 841 adolescent girls reached through menstrual hygiene awareness sessions across 9 Government schools

🧠 780 students reached through sessions on mental health, health education and prevention of substance use

👁️ 124 community members benefited through a speciality health camp, with 18 individuals referred for further treatment

Promoting Safer and Healthier Livelihoods!

From 1–10 July 2026, community-level sessions on low-cost and easy-to-adopt Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) practices were conducted across 62 villages, reaching 1,364 community members.

The sessions focused on raising awareness about mining-related safety hazards, health risks associated with mica collection and processing, traditional risk-avoidance practices, and practical low-cost OSH solutions.

Together, we continue working towards safer workplaces, healthier communities and better livelihoods.
