It shares, listens, commits and works towards building a responsive society in which differently and potentially abled people grow in self-esteem and enjoy full participation in the community by facilitating and empowering parents, siblings and persons with disabilities through practical support, assessment and counselling.

On 29 May 2026, a training session on Neurodiversity and Physical Disabilities was conducted at Malsawm Ability Resource Centre (MARC), Pearsonmun, Lamka for parents enrolled in the Early Intervention and Home-Based Care Programme.

The session focused on enhancing parents' understanding of neurodiversity and physical disabilities, while equipping them with practical knowledge and strategies to better support their children's development at home. Through learning and discussion, parents gained valuable insights into creating nurturing and supportive environments that promote the growth and well-being of children with disabilities.

Together, we continue to empower families and strengthen support systems for every child.

Exciting progress is underway as our team begins the first phase of preparations for the Child Development Centre (CDC), Chandel. Activities such as cleaning, renovation, and beneficiary identification are already in progress as we prepare to open our doors to children with disabilities and their families.

Soon, CDC Chandel will be formally inaugurated and fully operational, providing much-needed developmental, educational, and therapeutic support to children with disabilities across Chandel district.

Supported by State Bank of India Foundation under Samagra Shiksha, CDC Chandel is an extension of Centre for Community Initiative (CCI), located at Japhou Bazar, Maha Union Govt. Higher Secondary School Road, Opposite FCI Godown, Chandel.

As a one-stop centre for holistic child development, CDC will provide Individualized Care, Special & Inclusive Education, Therapy Services, Parent Counselling, Community Outreach, UDID Enrolment Support, Advocacy, Sensitisation & Awareness.

Together, we are working towards a future where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

In a significant step towards promoting mental well-being and building a mentally resilient Lamka, Project MindLink, a mental health initiative initiated by Centre for Community Initiative, was officially launched today at the Gospel Centenary Hall Auditorium, New Lamka. The project was inaugurated by Rev. K. Kamchinkhup, General Secretary of the Evangelical Baptist Convention (EBC).

Supported by Petronet LNG Limited, Project MindLink aims to strengthen mental health awareness, promote early identification of mental health concerns, and improve access to intervention and support services through community engagement and strategic partnerships.

One of the most inspiring moments of the programme was the “Voices of Hope” segment, where Lawmi Khuptong shared a powerful testimony of lived experience with mental health challenges. Her story of resilience, recovery, and hope underscored the importance of open conversations around mental health and the need for supportive families and communities that encourage healing and understanding.

The launch programme witnessed participation from representatives of churches, educational institutions, civil society organisations, community leaders, government departments, social media influencers, and partner agencies, all united by a shared vision of strengthening mental health support systems within the community.

Speaking at the event, Rev. K. Kamchinkhup emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in addressing mental health challenges and fostering a caring and inclusive society.

Organisers expressed heartfelt appreciation to all attendees and stakeholders for their support and solidarity. The initiative marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to break stigma, inspire hope, and create a stronger and more mentally resilient Lamka.

This renewed partnership reaffirms our shared commitment to nurturing and supporting children through inclusive and community centered initiatives.

Day 2 of Inclusive Education Training was successfully conducted with the teachers of Rayburn High, Hebron Veng, New Lamka.

The session continued to strengthen understanding of inclusive teaching practices, creating supportive classrooms, the RPwD Act 2016, and the importance of UDID, ensuring meaningful participation for all learners.

Teachers actively engaged in discussions and shared reflections on building more inclusive learning environments.
