The CDS Skill Centre/Vocational Training Centre for Youth was established in 2025 with the support of IndiGo CSR to provide employment-oriented vocational training to young people in the hospitality sector.
Since its inception, 137 trainees have successfully completed the Hospitality–Food & Beverages training, with around 90 per cent securing placements in different cities across India. Many of the trainees have obtained employment opportunities in reputed 4-star and 5-star hotels.
Speaking at the programme, Centre Coordinator Lamcy Haokip said that most trainees who have completed the Hospitality–Food & Beverages course have secured employment. She highlighted that the training is conducted for 45 days and provides practical and industry-oriented skills to young people seeking employment in the hospitality sector.
For the 5th Batch, 29 trainees were enrolled, of whom 27 successfully completed the training. The remaining trainees were unable to complete the course due to various personal reasons. Placement interviews are currently being conducted for trainees who have not yet secured employment, with efforts underway to connect them with suitable job opportunities.
Addressing the trainees, CDS President Lianzamung Tonsing congratulated them on successfully completing their training and encouraged them to remain connected with their community even after securing employment in different parts of India.
He urged the trainees to identify themselves with and become members of their respective societies, welfare associations and fellowships wherever they are posted, saying that maintaining a connection with the community is important even while pursuing employment opportunities outside their home region.
He also encouraged the young trainees to face challenges in their professional lives with determination, stating that no job is without difficulties and that success comes through hard work, perseverance and dedication. He further urged them to work diligently while maintaining the fear of God.
The training programme is fully funded by IndiGo CSR, and trainees are not required to pay any training fees. Training materials are provided free of cost, while food and refreshments are also provided during the training period. CDS is also facilitating placement opportunities for trainees upon successful completion of the programme.
The training programme is conducted in batches. While the 5th Batch has now completed its training, the 6th Batch is scheduled to undergo assessment shortly. The 6th and 7th Batches are currently progressing, while admission for the 8th Batch is underway.
Through the programme, CDS aims to equip young people with market-oriented hospitality skills and facilitate their transition from vocational training to sustainable employment in the hospitality industry across India.
