ओडिशा एक समय जैन धर्म का एक महान केंद्र था - पवित्र गुफाओं, मंदिरों और तीर्थंकरों की मूर्तियों से भरा हुआ था।

सदियों से, इनमें से कई जैन स्थलों को धीरे-धीरे हिंदू मंदिरों में बदल दिया गया, और मूर्तियों को हिंदू देवताओं के रूप में बदला गया।

उदयगिरी-खंडगिरी गुफाओं से लेकर पूरे क्षेत्र में छिपे हुए मंदिर, जैन विरासत के निशान अभी भी शेष हैं।
