India has seen a lot of warriors who fought against a lot of odd stereotypes who with their constant efforts led her to independence. It's been 71 years since then and we have deliberately started assuming that the days are gone when children were not educated beyond a certain age and women were not allowed to take part in social gatherings. We are constantly in belief of being adeveloping country. In terms of technology, we are developing quite well. The question is, "Is this development equally seen among everyone? Is everyone in a position to afford it? What about the people who are not even aware of this? Ever pondered about that?" Let us put forward a reality in an area we came across (Oh! There are many actually).

There is a community with 340 families from the most humble backgrounds in a corner of Mogappair West, Chennai. People here are not aware of the outer world. The majority of them are kids in their adolescent period (the most sensitive stage, isn't it?). A very few of them pursue their higher secondary education. More than half of them are made one of the bread-earners of their families. The girls, once they hit their puberty, are refrained from participating in social life and are posed with several more restrictions (Stereotypical, right?). Adding on to these, the kids he re have an ongoing tradition of having gangs among themselves (precisely, gangster concept), of which many are addicted to drugs.

"So, do you still think that we are developing equally?" The situation of these people makes the lives of those kids questionable. To address these issues, we, at ITHIKA Trust, are planning to expand out center around their community. Our team conducted a street play to create awareness about the same. Along the same lines, to attract them further, we performed Silambam (a traditional weapon-based martial art of Tamil Nadu). Now, the people in that community are eager to send their kids to us and have provided a place to run our center as well.
