For those who don't know Ashok Pillai, he was the founder member and President of Indian Network for People living with HIV - a leader and selfless advocate for people living with HIV. He died on April 19, 2002, he was just 33.

He worked as usual at his office on the day. HIV treatment was not available and when he needed a ventilator, the care centre was not equipped with it.

On a quiet Sunday, February 1, PWN+, organised a sexual and reproductive health session with nine young adults (22–25 years old) who have been living with HIV since childhood.

The space was built on trust, openness, and care — allowing five young men and four young women to share their questions, experiences, and information needs, and to co-create honest conversations about their health and futures.

For Geetha, who began her journey in HIV and preventive health decades ago, joining as a resource person felt like a meaningful reconnection with the work, organisations, and communities she has walked alongside since the 1990s.

The PWN+ team, along with Kousalya and Litty Jacob, held the space with deep compassion — reminding us of the strength of positive women who have nurtured their children and helped them dream lives of purpose and possibility.

The laughter, giggles, and easy conversations through the day were a testament to the power of safe, physical spaces — and a gentle reminder that some connections are best built face-to-face.
