The development of the Ban Keun facility reflects China’s efforts to deepen defence cooperation with Laos while establishing a more durable military presence in mainland Southeast Asia. Initially centred on joint training and logistical support, the facility could strengthen military interoperability, expand access for Chinese personnel and equipment, and deepen institutional ties with the Lao military. Although its current operational capabilities remain limited, its proximity to Thailand and regional transport corridors gives Beijing greater strategic flexibility. Its future significance will depend on whether access, deployments and infrastructure expand beyond training

Delegations from Indonesia and Thailand have appreciated Andhra Pradesh’s community-led Natural Farming model, particularly the integration of technology with traditional farming practices during their visit to Guntur district on Friday. The delegations visited Hafpeta village in Tenali mandal and inspected adjoining natural farming and chemical-farming paddy fields. Apart from the two delegations, those who visited the natural farms included Timothy Joseph Fijal from Canada, Shanon Leigh Greef from South Africa, Craig Andrew Ellis from Australia, Yagish*ta Tomonobu from Japan, and Aung Phyo from Myanmar.
