SRMU stands firmly with railway employees who serve the nation with commitment, discipline, and responsibility. These posters highlight the genuine problems and demands of TRD Staff, Operating Staff, Mechanical Staff, and Women Commercial Clerks across the Chennai Division.

The key concerns raised include staff shortage, unsafe working conditions, misuse of pointsmen, lack of adequate manpower, pending promotions, shortage of PPE and tools, poor depot infrastructure, insufficient lighting during night work, non-availability of rest rooms and separate toilet facilities for women staff, delay in OHE materials and spares, old vehicles and trolleys, continuous night duties, and the urgent need for respect, dignity, and basic facilities.

Railway employees ensure safe train operations every day. Their safety, dignity, welfare, and basic rights must be protected without delay.

Working Motormen deserve better.
SRMU strongly raises its voice for the welfare, dignity, safety, and proper working conditions of motormen. A new running room may be available at MSB, but the lack of a nearby crew lounge and proper refreshment/rest facilities continues to affect working motormen.

This issue directly impacts:
Mental and physical fatigue
Lack of proper refreshment facility
Loss of productivity and focus
Safety compromise

SRMU demands immediate action to rectify the issues in crew transportation, provide proper crew lounge and rest facilities, and ensure that the hard work of motormen is respected.

Ensuring Safe Drinking Water for Workers — Issue Resolved ✔️

During a routine inspection at the BBQ Tripshed, the SRMU Divisional Secretary identified that the drinking water purifier was not functioning properly. The issue was immediately escalated, followed by continuous monitoring and timely intervention.

Thanks to the swift action taken, the purifier has now been fully serviced, restoring clean and safe drinking water for all employees. This reflects SRMU’s ongoing commitment to worker welfare, health, and safety.

A big THANK YOU to our SRMU Divisional Secretary for prioritizing workers’ well‑being and ensuring immediate corrective action.

If women are recruited into running cadre duties, they must also be provided with the basic facilities, dignity, safety, and support they deserve.

Lady loco running staff continue to face serious daily challenges such as lack of proper washrooms, inadequate rest rooms, poor menstrual hygiene support, and insufficient basic facilities during duty.

SRMU raises its strong voice for women running staff and demands real, practical, and respectful workplace support.
