Mother’s Day Celebration

The BSSSG ECCD Madurai Project celebrated Mother’s Day across five ECCD centres. The event recognized the mental load mothers carry, celebrated their strength, and honoured their invaluable and selfless love.

Children honoured their mothers like queens, expressing love and pampering them in appreciation of their unconditional care.

Various activities were conducted during the program. Children prepared and presented handmade cards to their mothers. In a gratitude circle, each child expressed love and appreciation. Children also performed songs and action rhymes to entertain their mothers. Games were organized for mothers, who participated actively.

Teachers highlighted the importance of a mother’s role in early childhood development. The event was attended by mothers, children, and staff members. Joy and emotional bonding were evident throughout the celebration.

Graduation Day – 02.05.2026

On 02.05.2026, the graduation ceremony for the Short-Term Montessori Teaching Course was held at Lakshmi Vidhya Sangham, Veerapanjan. Course completion certificates were awarded to the BSSSG ECCD Madurai Project teachers.

The teachers were honoured by Mr. Srinivasa Raghavan, Dean of Lakshmi Vidhya Sangham, and Mrs. Shanthibala, Principal of TVS Teacher Training Academy, along with the faculty members. A total of 10 ECCD teachers received their certificates.

The ceremony was attended by Ms. Rajalakshmi, PO – HCLF, who also captured the event through photographs.

Through this course, the teachers gained valuable knowledge of Montessori teaching methodology, which will support them in teaching children in a more child-friendly and effective manner.

World Immunization Week (April 24–30) reminds us that **“For Every Generation, Vaccines Work.”** Vaccination plays a vital role in helping people at every stage of life live healthier and longer.

An awareness session on the importance of immunization was conducted at ECCD Centers, Pampatti Nagar 1 & 2, by Ms. Backiyalakshmi (Staff Nurse, Anna Nagar PHC) and Ms. Sangeetha (Nurse, Vandiyur UPHC).

The session focused on:
• Catching up on missed vaccine doses
• Strengthening overall vaccine coverage
• Ensuring equitable access to vaccines for all age groups

Special emphasis was given to preventing diseases such as measles, HPV, and pneumonia. Parents were encouraged to keep their families’ vaccinations up to date, with detailed guidance on the HPV vaccine available for 14-year-old girls.

An interactive discussion addressed parents’ concerns regarding missed vaccinations and PHC working hours. Participants were also informed about the availability of specialist doctors visiting the PHC regularly, encouraging everyone to utilize these healthcare services.

Creating awareness today ensures a healthier tomorrow for every generation.

ECCD Annual Day Celebration | Gandhinagar, Chennai

The ECCD Project supported by HCL Foundation (HCLF) celebrated its Annual Day on 17th March 2026 at Gandhinagar, with the participation of 55 parents and 75 children.

The program began with the state anthem, followed by a welcome address by Mr. Sundaramoorthy, Director – BSSSG.

Ms. Veena (CDPO, ICDS) spoke on the importance of early childhood development (0–6 years), and Ms. Nandhini (Programme Officer, HCLF) shared the impact of the ECCD program in the area.

Certificates and medals were distributed to children, and trophies were awarded to winners of the Sports Day held on 27th February at Kannagi Nagar Playground.

Children presented cultural performances including dance, rhymes, and Thirukural recitation.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Sundar (Documentation Officer).

Parent Feedback:
Parents appreciated the program’s positive impact. One parent shared that it helped her pursue a job while ensuring a safe environment for her child.

International Women's Day was celebrated by the BSSSG ECCD Project, Madurai (09.03.2026) at Keerathurai.
Theme of the Year: Give to Gain.

As part of the celebration, an awareness program was conducted for parents and community members. The session was handled by Ms. Diyana, Centre Administrator from the One Stop Centre, Collectorate. Information about the One Stop Centre (OSC) scheme, implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, was shared. It was explained that the centre provides integrated support services such as police assistance, medical help, legal support, counselling, and shelter for women affected by violence. The toll-free helpline number 181 was also introduced to the participants.

Ms. Rajalakshmi, Program Officer, HCLF, explained the importance of women's empowerment and the role of women achievers in society.

ECCD parents and teachers enthusiastically participated in fun games and entertainment activities. Dance and a selfie point created a joyful atmosphere, and gifts were distributed to all participants. The program helped participants relax, reduce stress, and enjoy the celebration together.

The Gandhi Nagar Sholinganallur ECCD Project celebrated International Women's Day on 08/03/2026 with great enthusiasm. The event included a rangoli competition and fun activities such as balloon bursting, lemon-and-spoon race, and musical chairs, with active participation from women and children.

The Director delivered the welcome address, and the Documentation Officer shared insights on the history and significance of Women's Day. We also thank the Communication Officer and Psychologist from PBGCC for their valuable presence.

The celebration concluded with prize distribution and tokens of appreciation for all participants, making it a joyful and empowering event for everyone.

The BSSSG ECCD Project – Chennai celebrated Sports Day on February 27, 2026, at the Kannagi Nagar Playground. The event began with various games such as running races, relay races, and ball balancing. The children also delivered speeches on Thirukkural, showcasing their talents and confidence.

A total of 75 children participated in the program. Ms. Nandhini, P.O., HCLFoundation, along with four HCL volunteers, ECCD teachers, the BSSSG team, and the HCL Sports Team attended the celebration.
