Srila Prabhupada's Iskcon Chennai 🛕 Chennai's Future Tallest Temple! Dakshina Dwaraka Dham — ISKCON Thiruvanmiyur, on the Bay of Bengal shores. Daily Arti, Kirtan, Gita classes & Free Prasadam.

Affiliated with ISKCON Bangalore. Hare Krishna! 🙏 His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada incorporated the International Society for Krishna Consciousness in 1966 with seven explicit purposes. This list of purposes (below) was one of the official documents incorporating HARE KRISHNA MOVEMENT as a charitable organization. At the time, the movement had few followers in the West and was operating out of a rented storefront in New York City. One of the pressing needs at the time was to facilitate donors who wanted to give tax-deductible donations to establish a temple for Lord Krishna in New York City. In the years that followed, Srila Prabhupada expanded HARE KRISHNA MOVEMENT 's mission and activities beyond some of the details listed in the incorporation documents, while remaining consistent with its principles. For example, HARE KRISHNA MOVEMENT has established many more than one "holy place of transcendental pastimes dedicated to the personality of Krishna", with temples in major cities around the world. "To bring the members closer together for the purpose of teaching a simpler, more natural way of life" has inspired the development of self-sufficient farm communities, ashrams and spiritual retreat centers. Srila Prabhupada's plan to re-spiritualize society through the distribution of sanctified food is not mentioned in the original incorporation documents. Yet he established Food For Life and Govinda's vegetarian restaurants, and the Sunday Feast has become the weekly happening at every HARE KRISHNA MOVEMENT center.
1. To systematically propagate spiritual knowledge to society at large and to educate all people in the techniques of spiritual life in order to check the imbalance of values in life and to achieve real unity and peace in the world.
2. To propagate a consciousness of Krishna (God), as it is revealed in the great scriptures of India, Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam.
3. To bring the members of the Society together with each other and nearer to Krishna, the prime entity, thus developing the idea within the members, and humanity at large, that each soul is part and parcel of the quality of Godhead (Krishna).
4. To teach and encourage the sankirtana movement, congregational chanting of the holy name of God, as revealed in the teachings of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
5. To erect for the members and for society at large a holy place of transcendental pastimes dedicated to the personality of Krishna.
6. To bring the members closer together for the purpose of teaching a simpler, more natural way of life.
7. With a view towards achieving the aforementioned purposes, to publish and distribute periodicals, magazines, books and other writings.

🌙 A FACE THAT MAKES MILLIONS OF MOONS LOOK DIM

Some beauty is meant to be described in poetry — because ordinary words simply aren't enough ✨

📖 "He whose broadly-bending eyebrows appear like arched rainbows, Whose pure moonlike face belittles millions of ordinary moons, Who is endowed with sweet gentle smiles and pleasant speech — Just worship Krishna, the Dark Jewel, the son of the King of Vraja."
— Nava Nirada Nindita, Verse 2 (Eight Prayers Glorifying the Son of the King of Vraja)

🪷 Eyebrows like rainbows.
🪷 A face that outshines not one, but millions of moons.
🪷 A smile so gentle, it captures hearts before a single word is spoken.

This is how the great Vaishnava poets described Krishna — not just as the Supreme Lord, but as the most beautiful object the heart could ever behold 💙

The verse doesn't end with description. It ends with an instruction: Just worship Him.

🪈 DUST ON HIS HAIR, A FLUTE AT HIS LIPS, AND THE WHOLE VILLAGE WAITING

Evening in Vraja. Lotus-eyed Krishna returns home with Balarama, surrounded by the cowherd boys who chant His glories the entire way 🌾

📖 "Lord Krishna's hair, powdered with the dust raised by the cows, was decorated with a peacock feather and forest flowers. The Lord glanced charmingly and smiled beautifully, playing upon His flute while His companions chanted His glories."
(Srimad Bhagavatam 10.15.41-42)

🪷 No crown. No royal procession. Just cow-dust in His hair and a flute in His hands — and still, every gopi comes running, eyes eager just to catch sight of Him ✨

This is Krishna as Vraja knew Him best — not seated on a throne, but walking home at dusk, utterly irresistible in His simplicity 💫

🌌 HE HOLDS THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE — AND FITS IN YOUR HEART

Try to imagine this: a form so immense, it contains every planet, every sky, every being that has ever existed ✨

📖 "The universal form of the Lord is the complete whole of everything that be. This form, adorned with various crowns, clubs, discs, spears and other weapons, is difficult to look at because of its glaring, fiery effulgence, immeasurable like the sun. Many, many other forms expand without limit from this universal body of the Lord, which spreads throughout the sky and the planets and all space in between."

🪷 Lord Brahma, Shiva, Surya, Chandra — even the great demigods rest upon His arms.

🪷 Every bird, beast, tree, and living being that exists is covered by this universal form, at all times.

And yet —
"He is transcendental to all of them, eternally existing as the Supersoul in a form not exceeding nine inches."

💫 The same Lord who spans infinite space also sits quietly within your heart, smaller than your own hand. Not limited by the vastness of His own creation.

This is the paradox only Krishna can hold: infinitely large, and infinitely intimate.

🌌 THE LOTUS THAT GIVES BIRTH TO AN ENTIRE UNIVERSE

Before creation as we know it begins, something extraordinary happens inside every single universe ✨
📖 "In each and every universal globe, the same Maha Vishnu enters again as Garbhodakshayi Vishnu and lies there on the serpentlike Sesha incarnation. From His navel sprouts a lotus stem, and on the lotus, Brahma, the lord of the universe, is born."
— Srila Prabhupada's purport, Srimad Bhagavatam 2.5.33

🪷 Not one universe. Countless universes.
🪷 Not one Brahma. A Brahma born in each — from the navel of the Lord lying within.
This is the scale most people never stop to consider: Krishna isn't simply present within creation — He personally enters each universe and generates its very architect 🕉️

Material science searches for the origin of the universe.
Srimad Bhagavatam names it. 💫

💛 THE MERCY THAT NOT EVEN LAKSHMI DEVI COULD ATTAIN

Not Lord Brahma. Not Lord Shiva. Not even the goddess of fortune, who is eternally the Lord's own better half.

None of them received what mother Yashoda received from the Supreme Personality of Godhead ✨

📖 "Neither Lord Brahma, nor Lord Siva, nor even the goddess of fortune, who is always the better half of the Supreme Lord, can obtain from the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the deliverer from this material world, such mercy as received by mother Yasoda."

— Srila Prabhupada (Srimad-Bhagavatam 10.9.20, purport)

🪷 What did she receive? The Lord of the universe binding Himself with ropes at her hand — not out of duty, not out of fear, but out of pure parental love.

🪷 Opulence didn't earn this mercy. Power didn't earn it. Position in the spiritual hierarchy didn't earn it.
Only love — simple, unconditional, maternal love — could bind the unbindable ✨

🏹 CUPID SENT HIS BEST ARROWS — AND THE LORD JUST LAUGHED

Determined to test if anyone was beyond temptation, Cupid attacked Nara-Narayana Rishi with the glances of the most beautiful heavenly women 💫

The Lord's response? Simply amused. Unmoved. Unbothered.

Cupid and the celestial women, realizing their offense, stood trembling before Him — until Nara-Narayana spoke, laughing:

📖 "Do not fear, O mighty Madana, O wind-god and wives of the demigods. Rather, please accept these gifts I am offering you and kindly sanctify My ashram by your presence."
(Srimad-Bhagavatam 11.4.8)

🪷 No anger. No fear of falling. Just the effortless transcendence of one fixed in the Lord.

🪷 Even Cupid's arrows have no power over a mind absorbed in Krishna.

🪷 True renunciation isn't fighting temptation — it's rising so high that temptation itself becomes a guest to be blessed, not a threat to be feared.

💔 "I CANNOT TOLERATE GIVING UP YOUR LOTUS FEET, EVEN FOR A MOMENT"

Krishna's pastimes on earth were drawing to a close. Seeing the fearful omens, Uddhava approached the Lord in a private place, bowed down with folded hands, and made one heartfelt plea 🙏

📖 "O Lord Keshava, my dear master, I cannot tolerate giving up Your lotus feet even for a fraction of a moment. I urge You to take me along with You to Your own abode."

(Srimad Bhagavatam 11.6.42-43)

Uddhava wasn't asking for liberation, power, or comfort. Only one thing: never to be separated from Krishna 🪷

That is the mood of a pure devotee. Not "what can I get from You?" but "how can I live without You?" 💫

🙏 THE QUALITY THAT MAKES ONE TRULY GREAT

King Dasaratha asked Lord Ramachandra to leave for the forest for 14 years — to fulfill a promise made to His youngest mother.

Rama's reply? "Yes father, I am ready."
No complaint. No attachment to the throne. Just complete renunciation ✨

Srila Prabhupada explains this reflects one of God's six opulences:

📖 aiśvaryasya samagrasya vīryasya yaśasaḥ śriyaḥ / jñāna-vairāgyayoś caiva ṣaṇṇāṁ bhaga itīṅganā
(Viṣṇu Purāṇa 6.5.47)

God is defined by possessing all riches, strength, fame, beauty, knowledge, and renunciation — in full. Not by vote. Not by belief. By definition. 🪷

😭 A CHILD'S TEARS THAT BIND THE UNBOUNDABLE

Little Krishna saw His mother's stick — and cried, rubbing His eyes again and again with His tiny lotus hands 🥹

His eyes filled with fear. His breath quickened, shaking the strand of pearls on His neck 🪈

📖 Sri Damodarashtaka, Verse 2, from Padma Purana, describes this scene as pure poetry — the Supreme Lord, whose belly is bound not by rope, but by the pure love of His mother ✨

Mother Yashoda didn't bind Krishna with strength. She bound Him with love so intense, even God couldn't resist it 🙏

This is Damodara — the Lord who allows Himself to be tied, simply because His devotee's love demanded it.
