This week, learners baked a rosemary, potato and cheese loaf from scratch.

From mixing and kneading to waiting for the dough to rise, every step asked for observation, patience, and a little problem solving.

Baking doesn’t always go exactly as planned.

That’s often where the learning begins.

It’s easy to see a park as a place to visit.

It’s far more interesting to understand how it came to be.

At Adyar Eco Park, our learners explored one of Chennai’s restored wetland ecosystems, learning how conservation efforts transformed a degraded landscape into a thriving habitat for native plants, birds, and wildlife.

Looking out from the watchtower and tracing the history of the river and its surroundings, they discovered that every landscape has a story to tell.

Sometimes, understanding a city begins by understanding the ecosystems that have quietly shaped it all along.

Every story begins long before the first page is turned.

It begins with someone imagining, observing, questioning, and creating.

When Brachio visited Quest, learners stepped into a story about belonging, curiosity, and finding where we fit in the world.

What began as a storytelling session soon became conversations, questions, laughter, and a shared potluck that brought the community together.

Sometimes, the most meaningful part of a story isn’t reading it.

It’s everything that happens after it’s told.

Our parent workshop began with a guided watercolour painting experience. Participants first soaked the paper, then gently painted the sky and the earth before sowing seeds across the landscape.

From there, they were invited to let their paintings blossom in whatever way they imagined, each creation becoming a unique expression of their own vision.

The activity symbolised the shared role of parents and Quest in nurturing every learner. While we may sow the seeds together, each child grows, flourishes and blossoms in their own unique way.

It was a beautiful reminder that growth cannot be rushed or compared—every learner’s journey unfolds in its own time, with its own colours and possibilities.

Every recipe is someone’s way of saying,

“This worked. You should try it too.”

Using a cookbook from our library, our learners made a Lazy Pastry Pudding with apples and raisins. As they followed the recipe step by step, they made observations, solved small challenges, and discovered that even the simplest recipe involves decisions along the way.

Cooking became an opportunity to read carefully, measure thoughtfully, work collaboratively, and adapt when things didn’t go exactly as planned.

Sometimes, learning begins by borrowing someone else’s recipe and, little by little, making it your own.
