The Mugavari Profile – The New Dimension begins with a Tribute

This is an extremely meaningful moment for all of us at Mugavari – the 7th of April 2026 is special. Today, we remember and celebrate the birth anniversary of one of Mugavari’s most respected and beloved visionaries – Padma Shri CA T. N. Manoharan.

On this memorable occasion, we are honoured to share that his daughter, CA Sahini Manoharan has released the first edition of the Mugavari Profile in his chambers at Manohar Chowdhry & Associates, Chennai office. This profile was received by Mugavari students, CA K. Vijendran and CA P. Vishnupriya, now successful Chartered Accountants, who completed their articleship at the same office. They were joined by current Mugavari students, Ms. S. Girimalini (CA-Final & Articleship) and Ms. D. Keerthi (CS-Final), who was earlier mentored by CA T. N. Manoharan. The partners at the firm: CA K. S. Yoganandh, CA A. Selvaganesh, CA D. Theresa, CA M.S.N.M. Santosh and CA Sivakanth Varada also graced the occasion. On behalf of Mugavari Foundation, Mrs. R. Sumathi – Trustee, and admin staff, Ms. L. S. Priyadharshini & Ms. S. Sandhiya also attended the event. For everyone present, it was an emotional moment and an opportunity to honour a noble soul on his birthday, recalling all that he had initiated at Mugavari.

It is an honour for us to dedicate this to Padma Shri CA T. N. Manoharan, with his daughter presenting it to the Mugavari students who have been moulded by him in the presence of his close associates. It is the most befitting tribute to acknowledge the tremendous support that we have received.

Though Padma Shri CA T. N. Manoharan is not with us now, his words continue to remind us – silently yet powerfully – of the responsibilities we shoulder, to nurture and sustain Mugavari as an institution that stands strong beyond individuals, anchored in purpose and integrity.

This profile is not just a record of our journey. It reflects what we have built, what we aspire to build, and the kind, sustainable way in which we are shaping that path.

We look forward to sharing this profile with you, shortly. We would like to record our heartfelt gratitude to each of our supporters, without whose help we would not have reached so far.

Gratitude is Life!

A Proud Leap Forward: Mugavari Foundation Sees 6 Doctors Enter Government Service at One Slot

The Mugavari Foundation commenced its journey in 2002 by supporting a single Medical student. Over the 23 years, its impact has grown significantly, providing assistance to a total of 860 students for their higher education, including 286 Medical students in all the Govt. Medical Colleges of Tamil Nadu. Medical students are regarded as the foundation’s greatest strength, as they play a crucial role in safeguarding public health and serving society.

Among these 286 Medical students, 52 are postgraduate students who have completed or are currently pursuing their studies at various Medical colleges across India including the Premier Institutions like AIIMS, PGIMER, JIPMER, etc.,

A core mission of the Mugavari Foundation is to inspire students to contribute to society. In line with this thought, earlier 25 students have joined government service at different time periods, after successfully clearing the Tamil Nadu Government conducting MRB exams, demonstrating their commitment to giving back to society.

It brings us great pride to share that 6 Medical students (1 PG student) from the Mugavari Foundation have successfully cleared the MRB (Medical Recruitment Board) exams at the same time and have been appointed as Assistant Professor in a Govt. Mugavari Foundation Milestone: 50 PG Medical Students across India – Gratitude is Life...

In 1998, my sister was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai, where she remained hospitalized for nearly three months due to a serious heart ailment. She required urgent surgery, but it was repeatedly postponed. Patients who were admitted much later than my sister, but had referrals from influential individuals such as politicians or senior doctors, were given priority for surgery.

At that time, I was just a poor college student and felt completely helpless because I did not know anyone influential who could help us. It was deeply painful to witness how even healthcare in a government hospital seemed to favor the influential. My sister was overlooked simply because we were from a village and had no connections. The prejudice faced by people like us in a government hospital caused me immense distress.

When my sister was finally taken in for surgery, she passed away during the procedure. Unfortunately, I was not informed immediately. Instead, a surgeon asked me to go outside and buy him food. When I returned and handed it to him, he then told me that my sister had passed away during the surgery. The news, and the manner in which it was conveyed, haunted me for years. I realized that despite doing everything that was asked of me, my inability to save my sister stemmed from our poverty.

The deep impact of my sister’s death inspired me to support a girl from my village who aspired to become a doctor. Around the same time, the film “Ramana” directed by Mr. A.R. Murugadoss also became a great source of inspiration for me, as it portrayed a situation very similar to my own experience.

Initiating in 2002, after many struggles and with the generous support of Mr. A.R. Murugadoss on 24.06.2003, a student from my village, B. Kasthuri was able to pursue MBBS. That moment became the seed for the birth of the Mugavari Foundation.

Over the past 23 years, with the support of many kind-hearted sponsors, Mugavari Foundation has helped 860 students pursue higher education. Among them, 286 students are medical students. One principle I always emphasize to Mugavari medical students is to provide healthcare without prejudice, regardless of where they practice.

People with financial means can afford treatment in private hospitals, but those from poor backgrounds depend on government hospitals for proper care. It is the responsibility of doctors like you to treat them with compassion and equality. The greatest happiness for our sponsors is knowing that they have helped nurture doctors who serve the poor without discrimination. This value continues to be instilled in every Mugavari medical student.

Out of the 286 Mugavari medical students, 136 have already become doctors and 150 students are currently studying. I am proud to share that Mugavari students are steadily gaining recognition at the national level. It gives me immense pleasure to present the list of 50 Mugavari Medical PG students as of 19.02.2026 (50th Mugavari Medical Student to join PG on that day) from the 136 Medical graduates from Mugavari. Among them, 6 students have secured seats in premier institutions such as AIIMS _ 3, JIPMER _ 1, and PGIMER _ 2. I am sharing this information for your kind view.

The generous contributions of our sponsors have made this journey possible for these students. At this moment, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of them.

Gratitude is the Heart’s Memory.
