PSARA Review Meeting at Kartavya Bhawan, New Delhi
Today we attended the PSARA Review Meeting convened by the Ministry of Home Affairs (India) (MHA) at Kartavya Bhawan, New Delhi. The meeting was presided over by R. Prasana, IAS, Joint Secretary (PM).
Kriti Garg, IAS, Deputy Secretary, delivered a detailed presentation on the current status of the Private Security Agencies Regulation Act (PSARA) and highlighted several key challenges faced by the Private Security Industry (PSI).
Important issues discussed included:
• Amendment of PSARA provisions
• Renewal procedures
• Training requirements
• GST-related concerns
• Timely payments by principal employers
• Star rating framework for agencies
• Welfare of security guards
During the discussion, R. Prasana, IAS acknowledged the concerns raised by stakeholders and assured that MHA will soon convene a meeting of the Controlling Authorities to address and resolve the issues highlighted.
He also mentioned that MHA plans to organize focused workshops to examine these issues point-by-point and work towards creating an environment that supports Ease of Doing Business in the private security sector.
It was a meaningful and constructive meeting, and we are hopeful that it will bring positive reforms and much-needed relief to the Private Security Industry.
