The Chennai Angels

The Chennai Angels The Chennai Angels is one of India's Leading Angel Networks.

The Chennai Angels (TCA), formerly known as Chennai Entrepreneurship Trust Fund, was established in November 2007 with the objective of fostering Entrepreneurship with prime focus on nurturing and mentoring new generation entrepreneurs. Aspiring entrepreneurs with innovative business ideas often fumble to translate thoughts into commercially viable ventures. These teething troubles could be attrib

uted to inadequate awareness in taking the ideas forward or paucity of funds. In an effort to help these young minds, a group of prominent successful entrepreneurs came forward to form a consortium called The Chennai Entrepreneurship Trust Fund in Nov 2007, which is now The Chennai Angels (TCA). TCA are a Group of successful leaders who have successfully built, run and in many cases exited enterprises across multiple domains and industries and help entrepreneurs build and grow their ventures and enterprises into success stories.

Crescent Innovation Incubation Council (CIIC)’s 5th Mega Demo Day brought together founders, investors and industry leaders for a day of bold ideas, candid conversations and exceptional entrepreneurial energy.

The Chennai Angels (TCA) was delighted to play an active role in this landmark event organised by CIIC. Investors from TCA had a fantastic time participating in this vibrant event. We were especially proud to have our Executive Committee (EC) Chair, Mahalingam Krishnamurthy, present as one of the Guests of Honour.

Reji Joseph (TCA EC Member) engaged in a candid discussion with C K Kumaravel (Co-founder & CMD, Naturals Salon & Spa). They explored the disruption required to overhaul business models in traditional, fragmented markets. CK Kumaravel’s innovative approach not only transformed Naturals into the largest player in its segment but fundamentally changed how we look at reinventing the business landscape.

Reji Joseph also sat down with Srinath Ravichandran (Co-Founder & CEO, AgniKul Cosmos) to discuss the future of aerospace. The 3D-printed rockets are built in a matter of days rather than months; these rockets offer lower costs and enhanced safety. They delved into India’s space ambitions and Agnikul’s highly anticipated Mission 2.

Chandu Nair (TCA EC Member) led a thought-provoking panel on Beyond Borders: Creating Sovereign Technology in an Age of Uncertainty and the unique challenges of investing in Deep Tech. He led a brilliant discussion with Manu Iyer, Sam Sameer Mehta and others, and tackled critical questions: Are there enough opportunities commensurate with growing investor interest? And what is the overarching role of technology and innovation in this space?

Reji Joseph and Chandu Nair, both TCA EC Members serve as Advisors to CIIC, which continues to solidify its reputation as one of India’s fastest-growing Technology Business Incubators (TBIs).

It was also great to see strong TCA representation with V. Shankar, Mike Muralidharan, Yogeshwaran Sundaresan, Harikumar Subramonia Iyyer and Madanlal Gundecha in attendance.

A special shoutout to AVP, The Chennai Angels, Darshan Kumar, for his active participation in the pitch fest.

Here’s to backing the builders of tomorrow.
